Hi, Does anyone have experience with using Classic Industries 1970-1971 A-body filler neck (MD46200)? I have a 1971 Dart Swinger so I bought this part from Classic Industries. My original-to-the-car gas cap falls out of this repro filler neck. Turns out my car was made after April of 1971 when Chrysler changed to the 1972 filler neck and gas cap style. Not being sure which gas cap to order from Classic Industries to fit the filler neck they sell, I asked their sales rep to check which cap fits the filler neck. They said that actually none of the gas caps they sell fit the filler neck they sell. So does that mean the filler neck meets no standard and there is no gas cap out there that will fit it and I need to get a used 1972 filler neck? Or is there is some weird version of a gas cap I need? My old filler neck was rusted through and I tossed it, fool that I am, or I could have welded the end of that to the repro filler neck, but too late for that. Any body have any experience using repro parts like this? I should mention that the Dart gas cap fits my 1972 Scamp perfectly, but nobody repro's a 1972 filler neck.

I might have a donor 71 filler neck (early w/o ECS) You could use it to weld to your new tube. This one was rusted through where it went in the tank.
I would have to check my scrap metal pile and see if its in there. Not sure cause if it was small enough it may have went out in a trash bag.

Thanks for the offer but I think all my gas caps are the late '71 design- it looks exactly like my 1972 Scamp gas cap. I'm looking for a '72 filler neck on ebay- not much out there - but I think that's my easiest solution.

I think any A body neck after late 71 should work. I know the caps changed over the years but dont think the filler neck changed after 72.

Hi dodgeman440,

I happened across your post today and pulled our MF46200 filler neck out of stock and also pulled several different gas caps out of stock until I found one that I think fits the neck pretty good.

It is CI part # ST10649.

It is a vented cap that is chrome plated with a black horizontal grip in the center of the cap.

If you need a vented cap, I think this one would do the trick.
