Nice Evening In The Shop

Tell us about the 67 to 72 gm step side truck....

When I was a kid, there was a nearly new one across the street and I wanted one real bad.
Bought the model and painted it just like it (well to the best of my ability, brush painting a two tone butterscotch and white wasn't too easy for an 8 year old)

That belongs to a really good friend whose a Gray, Georgia police officer. It has a old school 350 a local hot rodder built for him years ago with a BW T10 4 speed. He got too excited a while back and blew a head gasket with his heavy right foot. It sat up for like two years and he asked me about fixin it so I told him to drag it over here. He already had some new aluminum heads to put on it. So I yanked the heads of of it and here it sits. He found out after I got the heads off his step father sold his heads, so now he's having to save back up for some more. Truck's pretty solid. I am sure I'll inherit doin as much work on it as I feel like doin. Needs a rocker on the passenger's side, a radiator support, which is in the bed and a few other small rust repairs, new wood in the bed of course, but really the old thing is pretty solid. It's a 71. We've talked about him buying my 396 but I think he's gonna leave the 350 in it.
