Bad day on the assembly line?

They gave her a 2019 loaner, and told her if it gets close to 2,000 miles , bring it back for another one .
ford did that to me one time. my truck was in for a transmission issue and they said it would be 2 or 3 weeks before they even looked at it... :realcrazy:

Wife just got home from tax school, said they called her and are replacing the short block. Must be ford "quality job one !" Still will have 75,000 more on her warranty.
If it happens again , we`ll trade it after its fixed the second time !!
I hate to admit it , but I kinda like the new chevy blazer ?
Better yet would be a hemi Durango , guess which hemi !
A supercharged 6.2 w/ all wheel drive , I might have to take her car away from her !!

Ya know when it gets right down to the difference between an old car vs a new car I'd take the old one any day. At least the old cars come apart with screws, nuts and bolts and the new ones come apart with plastic clips that was never made to take apart and be re assembled.

mine ended up a mess. when the trans went out a couple years previous, i had them swap it for one of their rebuilds with all factory parts that had a 3 year warranty. they didn't have any of those available, so the service manager farmed the job out to a private trans shop. never told me they took my truck off site or that some one else did the work. just handed me the ford warranty paperwork when it was done. that one lasted 2yrs 6 mo. i thought "cool, 3 years, i'm good". ~ 3 weeks later they call and say it needs everything but don't see anything about the last time i was there. guy had wiped it from the system. glad i keep all my paperwork. after a lot of back and forth they made it right. paid my bill at the other shop i ended up at and apologized

Sorry to here that and if you had to pay the bill I would guess it would cost more than I could pay to fix it.

When I pulled the package tray board out of the 1969 Dart I’m working on, I found MIG wire stuck to the welds. You know... when you go to weld, miss, and then make contact briefly, leaving that tail of MIG wire? Yeah... that doesn’t really scream quality.

Preaching to the choir my friend! New cars suck new! I saw a 80's Dodge Mirada in the yard that had the rear wheel off. The frame section or whatever that car had for a support over the rear axle looked like it was wrapped sheet metal repaired with rivets. "Factory recall on a transmission linkage piece: "car may move when in park". Chrysler said use extreme caution when placing car (minivan) in park to keep foot on brake/set Emergency brake and turn motor off ASAP. Please return to any dealership for 2 hour part replacement immediately." Well, the part was pack ordered nationwide and there was a 4 week wait. Safety first!

And throw away critical bolts that cant be used a second time !

I would rather travel in a new car anytime than an old hotrod myself !

'80s = "new"? At 30-39 years old they definitely fall into the "antique" category.

1980's equals **** build quality unless its my 10th grade girlfriend. She rocked....

The reason quality may have improved just a little bit because the Japs were showing what quality was all about. I bought a new Honda Civic in 80, went on an order list for 5 months. I received car in July and it was the first car I didn't have to go back to the dealer with a list of any problems. I bought an 83 Chrysler and boy was I sorry.
Bwhahahahaha. My brother in law bought a brand spanking new 75 CVCC (now called a civic). or commonly called a cats car since it never ran on a wet day. He traded it in on a Toyota Corrola and didn't last 1 year till he had to replace this long miserable "chineese puzzle style" timing chain there was no such thing as quality in the 75 -79 jap cars, maybe by the 80's they got it better, but early 70's they were just as junky if not worse than American made cars (oh and TINY) the only way they made any inroads is they did have great fuel economy in California and they (cali people)ate that crap up.

To further add to the 80 Civic I bought new. The car was stolen twice in Brooklyn and I got it back both times and it still ran great. I stopped driving at 205,000 miles with the the original clutch, thermostat, fan belts and timing belt. In 80 Honda didn't really have a great reputation, but what I read gave me the confidence to buy it. I kept the car for 15 years commuting from Long Island to Brooklyn approx. 50 miles 1 way. I stopped driving it because I felt I would start it 1 day and everything would let go. I did replace the water pump because I knew if it overheated the engine wouldn't survive. That car sold me on Honda's. My 83 Chrysler was declined to be covered under the Lemon Law, but had so many problems from day one.

That's real good mileage on the stock timing belt on a 80 Honda Civic.

I sell Acuras and they are great cars but the 70s Jap imports were not what everyone thinks they remember. They burned oil in short order , rusted out quickly , interiors disolved before your eyes and Were pooches ! They had no options so less to go wrong...

Now a BMW 2002 Tii ... now that was a great car !

My 70 Charger had 180k on it before I rebuilt the trany or engine. And I only did it then because I felt like it.
My 73 Dart Sport 318 car ran to over 100k and died from lack of maintenance...Brake rotor literally ground off from metal to metal contact. I pulled the 318 and dropped it in my brothers 71 340 4sp Demon. The 340 died from abuse !
