I had posted some pictures of this car a while back recently I brought it in the garage to steel some parts and put fenders on it to do some finish work and prime them.

When I got the car back after over 30 years . I took the Disc brakes for another car and put drums on so it was movable. I sold the idler for non power steering with AC to a member in need.
Now that it is in the garage again its time to put this car in the parts bins. I will just post pictures. After finding the Data plate in the car here is what I know so far . It was a three speed car with AC and no other options at all. What was added to the car and came with it was sport mirrors, Wing, 4spd., complete 72 bucket seat interrior. 391's.

Here are the picks from then until now The first couple pics are when I first bought it in the early 80's. before the guy that bought it added the parts above,

The original carb and a snorkel scoop and wing came with the car plus many other parts that were not on it but in it. Most of it is still in the car plus boxes of parts included that did not fit in the car.

The car from here on has had parts remove . Some for My brown Duster. Mechanically this car runs perfect and has the numbers matching low mile motor.

Well I am going down to pull the interior. I offered it to two people. So far no one came through. There is and extra back seat. The drivers side needs a cover. I'll get some pictures . I am going down now to clean all the boxes parts out of the car when I sign off. I just thought you all would like to see an original 340 running car come apart . Look for this stuff at Carlisle next year. More pictures coming.

Sad but it can carry on to restore many other cars.

Dusters lead a rough life ... and all have a story to tell.
I know this car has sat inside for the at least the last 30 yrs right next door . The rust was there when I first bought it. It was a Jersey shore car. Probably sat right on the beach when the original owner bought it. The first pictures I was the second owner the rust was there in the early 80's. It is a shame this car was still a very stout fast car up until about a month ago when I stole the brakes. It was fun to take out and put an *** whooping on it.

Whoop whoop... Mope Mope
Nothing like banging gears without all the guilt...lol

I had a sweet Bahama 71 H, sold it, the kid wasn't ready for the car. Lost it and ate a fire hydrant. Totaled (back then - repairable today) it and I bought it back. Sadly I had to part it.

A62 RALLY PACKAGE WITH TACH or CLOCK AND 3 SPEED WIPERS
G31 RH MIR CHROME
L31 TURN SIGNAL FENDER
These are actually rare positions for a 70 Duster
great parts car for sure

impressive, I wish I had room to be able to store some extra stuff, and a lift, a lift would be nice

Really looks cool with those big belted tires on back with bunny on housing..very pimp!!

Interested in some parts from it if your interested in selling.
PM me and point me to your want ad on the site. This is not a sale thread. It is a termination thread. I answer want ads when I get energetic . 70 ,71 Duster Demons are my sickness.

I do take medication for this. If I wouldn't Doctor Kathy would "terminate me"!. Her pants are much smaller then mine. But they do carry more weight. She also walks softly and carries a big stick when I am sleeping. . LOL

Steve, did you put up that building yet? Your going to need it. That's the Duster that was sitting out front? I was thinking about converting my Scamp to a four speed, probably wont happen though.

I cannot believe none of us never crashed this car . Those old tires did not make marks . The just left black powder on the road in three of the 4 gears. they were L60x15 . for the last 20 years the neighbor would get it out spring and fall. we would take turns thrashing. My son took it out himself when he was around 17. He came back loving 340's.

He has been driving since he was 13. I had 4spd R/T and a 73 340 4spd Duster that we were going to terminate. Every day he would come home from school and practice pulling second gear in the driveway . He would miss second with that Hemi 4 speed 7 out of 10 times. When I got him the Duster he was like Ronny Sox. My wife and I gave him a time limit. he had to come in and do his home work at 8:00 Or when he used up his 2 gallons of gas. He could barely see over the dash in the 68 so we lowered the bars. He was only allowed to sit in the other 68 no keys.

No . First I have to tear down the shed and clean up so I can have the Twp come and give the permit. I am trying to get rid of things but I sell one and in comes two more. I bought a new shed since you were here . My intention was to move things to that shed. It was full the next day and nothing came out of the other trailers or sheds.

I am beginning to think I need a hoarder intervention. Like 1-800- got-junk

Removed the grille and was careful not to break it or the bottom bars next to the clips that keep the grille spaced even on the bottom. This will be I don't know how many 70 factory grilles I have . My son put it up with the rest . they do not sell often.

But I think these and the 69 Valiant grilles are a lot nicer then the standard 71-72 grille . They have the extra chrome and the emblem in the center. The last time I counted the Head light rims there were about 25 per side I think more left then right.
The 70 grilles are molded in black and argent around the perimeter. Next to These and the Sharks tooth I like the 69 Valiant. You can color match them several ways.

I just saw a 73 grille in a Scamp on a for sale thread , I liked the way he did that grille, Pretty neat.

I don't know if any of you know this but early 70 and late 70 are different fenders. The late 70 fenders take the same headlight rim Grommets are the same as 71 .
The early fenders take a shorter grommet because the square hole is a 1/4 inch closer to the front of the fender.
Now I know some of you would call me out so I thought I better take a picture . If you have a early fender and need a grommet you will have to cut 1/4 inch off of a later one and counter sink the end with a counter sink bit. They are the same as a 69 grommet.
One other thing is the 71 has the hood pin access square hole. 70 Dusters never came with hood pins from the factory. the pictures will tell the story.

The access hole for the pin gets a special nut with a plate to be used for easy adjustment and assembly no wrench neede on the bottom nut. If you look close at the last picture I copied and pasted you will see the plate that is fastened to the factory nut that protrudes though the hole. There is a bend in the plate. I have the nuts if you want pictures.

Our k-member cradle has a adjustable pin that fits into the locating hole. This allows the removal of the trans while on the cradle. We need to make some up dates for other things we need on the cradle that's another thread. That is waht I got done on the car today. There were several comptete AC units in the car . After removing the interior we loaded the car with all AC parts and pushed it out

Tomorrow I will put the fenders from the brown Duster on this car to finish them up and put them in primer. I won't have to tape this car up. Just primer and "sand away" I will take the door panels off and remove the Mirrors in the morning. That is how this car will sit until I start putting the AC in the Demon. I will keep the body and all the numbers you never know if someone will want it to put a race car on the street.

I have had many old racers that bought race cars years ago that want to drive them now. You still see race cars without titles being sold
