2-1/2" is big!

72 dart, original engine and trans. Leaf spring relocation 1/2".

The kit contains header collectors, one is shorter on the passenger side. I tried it on the passenger side with the collectors that came with the headers, passenger side fits perfect, drivers side, not so much.

Using the short collector intended for the passenger side, it fits a lot closer but isn't going straight back, close with it can be pulled over a little at each slip joint.

The shorty.

Passenger side, fit perfect.

Since I screwed up when I ordered the kit and didn't get it with an H pipe, I need to order that piece and determine best location. Haven't ordered mufflers yet since I'm not sure inlet outlet needed, get it all sitting in there and see what it wants. Kit shows side inlet, center outlet. Mufflers will be Gibson MWA.

It's possible that the drivers side problem is a continuation of the header not fitting in correctly. See, Doug's header rant.

Looks like the kit I got from Summit for my 73 Sport, except mine had mufflers included. Not sure about yours, but mine was designed for Hooker Super Comp headers. Instructions said that modification would be required for other header brands. Since I'm running Schumacher headers, and a 200-4R trans, I had to fab my connectors from the header back about 3 feet.

Your jack stands are scaring the **** out of me. My buddy recently pinned himself to the garage door with his truck. Similar stands.

the guy I got the car from installed a similar kit he got from Summit, overall it seems "ok" but with the rear leafs moved inward it has the tailpipes exiting at a slight angle. I will be reworking it over the winter, under the car it isn't flat at the same elevation no where

Five points of contact, it's not going anywhere unless we get a big earth quake. And, the engine host is still connected, it's not going anywhere even if we do.

But thanks, you can never be too safe working on these cars.

Most of them kits like that use the same style muffler as the factory. Offset inlet, center outlet. If it was ME, I'd wait on the H pipe until you hear it first without it. You might like how it sounds. If you do, on a street car, you'll never notice the difference in power. At least that way, you can hear it both ways.

Good jack stands just not with a 2x4 on top. The wood can split and the car can domino to the floor with you underneath.

installed the same kit hooked to Doug's. Not a bad fit. I used Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers

Until you get the H-pipe installed let the back end of the pipes run "wild" so they are not up under the car. This will eliminate the droning sound.

Wind pushed the back of the car over, luckily I had extra blocking under it.

Right on. They're a nice kit. I have the 2 1/2 and 3 " kits with dynomax ultra flows.
I had to cut the collector stubs shorter to clear the k member, and the 3" I had to trim some receiver ends to get them to slip together over the axle and line up even and straight under the bumper.
Mandrel bent, can't beat'em.

looks good, but i wouldn't assume it's going to drone without the crossover. gears, cruzing RPM, the specific mufflers and where they're located in the pipes. everything makes a difference, even the type of hangers. i love the way my 74' sounds without a crossover

I put the same kit on with a universal x-pipe. No. Ad for the money.

Can you post any pic's of the Doug's headers with this kit. I am doing the same thing and would like some reference pics. Thanks.
