ProComp/Speedmaster aluminum heads

Okay called first thing this morning got Stan on the phone relatively quickly as always and he pretty much said that it takes 24 to 48 hours to get a label "authorized". He then looked at my paperwork again and said yes everything's been filed and he resent it again in his words "to give them a kick in the butt". he said honestly I get over 200 calls a day and sometimes you just got to keep on me a little bit. And apologized. I said I'm keeping my cool as long as the phone keeps on getting answered and someone keeps talking to me...
So again at least communication was easy...

This comes to mind....

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not ready to start casting Stones yet LOL...
ain't none of us can say we haven't had our good intentions explode in our face before...

Did you tell him you'd say good things about him on FABO if he would just upgrade you to CNC heads for no extra cost?

You never know? He may do it. That would be cheap advertising.

Yes of course my luck doesn't run that good. I thought of that one already why didn't they accidentally send me the CNC ported ones by accident!? LOL...
I think he's just a warehouse worker. It doesn't sound like he'd be authorizing anything. Also there's a little pamphlet that comes with the heads and I'm not sure if it's just these Ford heads or it's basically a coverall. Seems more cover all. Anyways it talks about maybe having to enlarge the pushrod holes and that there's no guarantee or whatever they say if you get the cnc-ported ones you may have valve seat problems or something? And they won't take any responsibility for what happens if you buy the cnc-ported ones as far as valve seats? Makes me think about maybe not wanting that. Or at least not wanting it without a bunch more work as well..

If you are using 1.6 rockers you'll most likely have to open the pushrods tunnels up. That's just what happens when we take stuff designed in 1962ish and modify the crap out of it.

Don't know about the valve seat issue? What's that about??

The shop that did my motor doesn't even want to talk to me about overseas heads LOL the other local shop said something right away about them not having good valve seats or something...
I think it includes pretty much what you're saying I mean once you modify the crap out of them all bets are off....

The way I take it is this: even if u do a valve job the warranty is null and void, including springs, retainers and locks change. U can’t make any changes, u have to use them as they left Procomp/ SpeedMaster. So basically no warranty whatsoever. Maybe I got it wrong, but u might want to ask whoever ur talking too. Kim

LOL. Ted doesn't suffer fools very long. I remember L&K doing the dyno work (and maybe more that just dyno work...long time ago) Jim Van Cleve's Comp Eliminator Ford. I got a look at the dyno sheets. That was priceless.

Anyway...you need to verify the valve job not just for sealing but to make sure everything else is correct.

And it doesn't matter what name is on the box. The one time you don't check something is the time it will bite you.

agreed, I wouldn't expect any manufacturer to warranty something that's been modified or fiddled with.

So ur saying that u wouldn’t check guide clearance or get a decent valve job. R u just gonna run them out of the box? Kim
I'm going to check the valve clearance and I'm going to check for any leaks in the valves. I'm not going to get a fancy multi angle valve job yet. I doubt if I'll do any porting yet. I would kind of like to see what they do more than less out of the box. Then I can tell what any work I did to them was worth. I don't think I would void any kind of warranty if I just pulled them apart check them and put them back together. I reckon if they can hold up in their stock forum I'd feel better about putting more money into them....

Either that or get really mad sending replacement heads for ones that aren't up to "par"... Lol

They should have sent the return label in the box with the RIGHT heads! I know the world doesn't work that way anymore, but this was their mistake not yours.

I generally take the attitude of country dumb when I ask them questions so they feel like even bigger fools because they can't get something so simple correct...

Elvis has left the building. It cost $0. 50 to have the label printed up. When those heads went it felt relieving LOL...
The shipping says they'll get there on Tuesday so obviously I'll probably give them a call Wednesday or Thursday to keep my foot firmly in there....
Till then....
