Does anyone sell new super stock springs?

Did you try Summit or Mancini's?

As mentioned above. I run a pair of passenger side 3200lbs SS Springs on both my 3700lbs Mopars. I did have to add properly adjusted slapper bars to eliminate the spring wrap that the lighter springs get, but the ride quality on the road is very good. The stiffer SS springs are just too brutal on the back with the roads around here, and I don't like the car to sit un-level.

If I was seriously racing I would use Caltracs. If I was a weekend warrior I would use stock springs unless I was having traction issues. ESPO Springs and things can build you whatever you want. The SS springs have an exrea leaf on one side. They can do that.

What's the reason of running two passenger side springs?? Are the driver side and passenger side made different? The reason I ask is I'm looking into new springs for my dart swinger I want to bring up the rear some and stock springs ain't doing it for me.

Super Stock springs have an extra leaf on one side. You can install 2 springs of the same number. either 5 or 6 leaf. ESPO can build you a set in 1 or 2" over stock. These are stock 5 leaf springs I installed 10+ years ago. Still working great! THey were from ESPO.

Cool thanks mike! I was not aware that ss springs had different numbers on each side I thought they where 6 on both. Thanks for the Info!
What would be the purpose of having 5 on one and 6 on the other?

Traction. The 6 leaf goes on the passenger side. SS springs usually make the car sit a little lop sided.

They also have a different arch and a different spring ratio.
The spring rates are supposed to be the same.
Off the top of my head DC/MP books had their SS Springs listed as 160 lbs/in.
Spring ratio is the relative stiffness of the front segment to the rear segment. The same DC Bulletin gives SS spring ratios of 1.7 and 1.8.
The difference in arch and ratio is to better load the tires during launch and maintain the anti-squat and help the chassis rise, transfering more weight onto the rear tires.

see pages 10 for ratio and 32 for adjusting 'antisquat'
Moparts Tech Archives, DC Bulletin 30

Direct Connection. That brings back memories.

Traction. The 6 leaf goes on the passenger side. SS springs usually make the car sit a little lop sided.

You can help that by cranking up the left front torsion bar a bit more to compensate for the higher right rear spring to get the car to sit more level.....

The tilt is seen in the rear end of the car more.
Please do so remember that the S/S springs are competition springs first and foremost. If you want what is IMO an excellent set of rear leaf springs for your MoPar for DRIVING the STREET, contact ESPO @ springs and things .com. Speak with them and know your getting a damn good spring.

I like the super stocks on my a-bodies... Been running them for decades...

But Springs n Things are good also....

Ditto as well. The ESPO springs were really good in the street for me. Always a straight launch. No fishtailing. Good ride.

The S/S springs were a bit stiffer. This is what throws people off and gets them upset thinking there going to a soft nice squishy ride. Not happening.

When the car launches, the car's engine torque lifts more on the driver's side front and transfers that load more to the passenger side rear. Hence the biased spring rates.

The goal is to compensate for that torsional rotation of the car under hard launch by stiffening the passenger side rear spring.

Between this thread and my thread the espos are sounding like a winner! I gotta check with them and looks at the price difference.

The leafs in my 68 Dart are from JR Spring. They are an excellent source for leafs springs as well. And located in Michigan I believe.
