Just remember guys like 318hasvalvesthatwillfly is much more photogenic than me. And much more patient than I am.
Actually, I've found making videos or using pictures is so much easier than typing AJForms type of paragraphs trying to explain something. In fact, I seldom read a multiple paragraph post.

Do you have any kind of timeframe when you are going to get started? Like are we going to see any action soon?
Please tell me this isn't going to be another one of Colonel Flags red herrings....

I'll start on in in February or March. I've got a car to sell, and engine to finish and sell (about 5 hours worth of work then some time on the run in stand) and a bunch of parts and crap to sort and see what I want and what to sell.

Plus, I have to go to PDX in December, and I shouldn't have to come back until March unless my mom gets sick again. That's when I'll bring my junk over there, and I'll drop the crank off at Eastco (see, I gotta call him and talk to him...add that to the list) and the rest of the junk off at Toms and do the rough measuring while I'm there. Maybe I take the heads over then too, and rough in a 45 degree valve job and run it across the flow bench and then do the 50 degree seat I want to use and flow it again. And then hit it with the flow balls and whatever I need to so I can see how much crap I want to do on this pig iron crap.

Oh yeah, this engine is getting my 1050 Dominator that Thumpr is going to machine out to 1150 (maybe...gotta call him too) convert that pig back to two circuits and then convert and weld up the intake manifold because I don't want to run an adapter.


Gotta hit up the doc for extra pain dope.............this is going to make me cranky.

I've never even heard of that movie.

I'm going to start on it today...unloading all that crap outta my truck. Then I have to get some stuff sold, make some phone calls to my cam guy, take some measurements and then start writing it all out.

It's a long process. I'm going to try (try) and use a 1.500 exhaust valve and only a 2.055ish intake valve. I'm my younger days (before I bought a flow bench) it would have been a 1.600 exhaust and 2.100 intake.

Then I have to call Thump and talk to him about the carb.

Dang, I'm going to be busy.
 
Here are the pictures Jpar wanted. This will be a (hopefully) 401 inch R block W2 engine.
I also have the rods but I think I'm going to sell them and use 6.250 SBC rods if I can find them.

R block. Must be an R1 but I haven't seen it in awhile and I can't find the sonic test sheet for it. That's why I think 401 CID. A 4.100 bore if IIRC what the sonic test said.

W2 Strip Dominator on the left. W5 SD on the right. The W5 SD is 100% virgin. Want to sell the W5 intake. You in Rumble?? This is right in your wheel house.

3.79 stroke crank. I will drill the crank pins to a .750 hole and ream the holes to help keep rotating weight down. And most likely I'll trim the counterweights down maybe .100ish and use Mallory to balance it.

Milodon gear drive. This is the only thing I use to drive the cam. Simple. Strong. Deadly accurate. My cam timing will be exactly the same 10 years after I'm dead.

I also have a Fluidamper here somewhere that's NIB. And a complete set of brand new MP 1.6 rockers, new shafts and stands. The rockers will go to Mike at B3 to be converted to cup adjusters, and maybe bronze bushings. I'll be buying some 4 bolts caps from Rocket here shortly and if he's out, I'll buy the Milodon caps. All I'll need is Pistons, rings, bearings, springs, retainers and locks.

There you go.


Buy some 6.250 Lentz, Carillo or Pankl ex-NASCAR rods on Fleabay for $100.00 then have the rod journals ground to fit the Honda rod dimensions. Best rods you can buy at really good prices.

Are those piston guided rods? I've got to look at the crank and see how well the oil feed holes are centered. Taking .025 to make them SBC LJ size is one thing, taking .245 off to get to Honda journals may move the oil hole off the Rod.

If I can use them the 100 bucks is a smoking deal.

I will use a piston guided deal when I use them likely in a Gen III Hemi. I also have some SB2 Ti valves that I’ll get machined to fit the heads.

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I've got to call Diamond and a couple of other piston places later this week and talk about the piston guided deal. I also want my next Pistons coated by Line2Line. I need to verify pin height, ring pack (I'm thinking .043/.043/.125 and horizontal gas ports) and a couple of other things. Not likely I'll get lucky and find an off the shelf piston.
