Anyone have any recommendations on paint they have used for the hood on a duster twister. it supposed 2 b matte black and ive sprayed several but seeing if there is any other options u guys liked

I always thought it was Chrysler Matte Black, which the technical term of is Organosol Textured Paint. There are rattle bombs available from Classic Industries and year one. The actual duplication of the factory color appears to be something of a mystery or lost art.

I used a Flat Clear from Excel Automotive on my 71' Dart hood.
You can get different looks out of this clear coat depending on how you mix it.
Spray your base coat with any Black paint then clear it with the Hot Rod Clear.

Matte color is called Hot Rod Black. It's the most common Matte Black.

The best to use and not have to worry about getting wax on it is.
Martin Senior Ford mustang Black out It matched the stripes perfect. Wax or polish does not change the flatness.

Thanks for the replies. i have sprayed dupont vinyl before and some others. Not a big fan of flattening clear because it shines up over time from waxing etc. Ive sprayed it many timed and not a fan

@Oldmanmopar do u know the number on the paint
I can look when I go back down to the shop. I have the old can with some in. I also have to get more for the Brown Duster. I did the Wing , Scoop , and fender mount turn indicators on the orange Duster. I am doing the same on the brown Duster shortly. That Black out was on that Duster for over 8 years and never a chip and never a streak from wiping it wet or dry. It dried the same on all the parts and they were not painted at the same time. But I did use the same gallon. It also worked great on the dash in that car.

I used Matt black on the Duster on the brown dash and column. Not one piece dried the same flatness. Temp and humidity changed the flatness on Matt black. Not on the Blackout.

When I come back up tonight I will bring a picture of the label. Steve

I appreciate it. That car of yours is sharp thats 4 sure

Here is a picture of the label. the year is on it so you can see how long ago I painted it. It never chipped on the hood and I did a lot of street driving. It also would reflect under the lights exactly the same as the stripes

My end result. But I used a stencil. And not a stripe kit. So the center and stripes are the same color.
What you see is dust on the hood. Nothing more. Trust me it's perfect.

The black out only took two light coats and it was wet and covered. You could barely feel the edge after I took the fine line tape off. The body is sitting out behind the shop. I will take a close up of the edge. You do not feel it or see it. When I used it I was amazed. I was turned on to it by a body shop guy I know. I would have never thought it would spray like it did.

Once you try it you will see what I mean
