Looking at possibly puttin in a exhaust cut out.
Just for that around town " raspy sound"
Motor is a Slant 6. Pretty much stock.
Going with 2 1/4 pipe all the way back.
Would like to have a cut out and have one dump in front of rear tire.
Anybody done the same or your general thoughts ?

Thank you for your reply.
I pretty much know what is out there.
Been searching on the interweb.

Kinda looking for ideas , thoughts , testimonials from others who have done it.

I love hearing from others who have spent hours and dollars figuring it out.
I always listen to the older / more experienced.

Saves me the time and dollars..... Lol

ooooo, sorry ! i can tell you I run a cable operated one on a diesel truck and its great fun. Was cheap and easy to install.

Bad experience:
I bought two for my 383, the butterfly's never sealed well. Sounded great opened, but they sounded ratty (in a bad way) when they were closed. I actually capped them with freeze plugs for now. Ill probably remove them eventually.

What brand did you buy? I’m looking for a set for my soon-to-be supercharged 318

Electronic ones never seal well.
Have you heard a slant six with no exhsust? Idk if i could listen to that lol

I bought the same style as the chrome ones all over ebay. Tried to get some customer support since there is No adjustment. No redponse.

The guy doing my exhaust said the tight "Y" configuration fit best on my big block w 2-1/2 inch exhaust.
The novelty og the sound wore off already.

As an open header race car driver... if i had the ground clearance, it'd have truck mufflers on it.lol

I've had a set of electric cutouts from Badlanz on my car for this past season now and they work great and still seal very tight. They have a lot of adjustment so you can clock them around to find the best fit. They are also less expensive than other brands out there. There's a wide variety of single and dual kits available.
A guy in Iowa makes them. Very friendly customer service also!

Like oldmodlover I’m in that stage of looking, I hear that the butterfly’s will leak... eventually.
So I have been looking for a cutout that doesn’t use butterflies but a gate, like a hose bib. But coming up empty handed.

They do have a 5 year warranty. I'd say that's pretty good. It does state that you are not supposed to operate them (activate the switch) under any load. Only at idle or with engine off, as operating them under a heavy load can damage them. But that seems reasonable to me.
I'm not trying to be a salesman, just relaying my experience with this brand and so far, so good.

And the electric ones take soooooooo long to open/close; which is only a problem when the cop in the next lane rolls down the window and says; " excuse me sir but, um........ you are sooo busted."

And like already alluded to; open-exhaust slanty's can only be enjoyed by other slanty owners.

I agree about the sound of slanties...
That said, these ones I have only take 3-4 seconds to open or close.

like i said slow; in a lil over 3 seconds my car could be doing over 60mph from 30, so they are of no use to me. And then the worst part is; I'll be vulnerable to discovery for another 3-4 seconds while they close. My wife had babies almost faster than that.lol
