Heater control cable connection at dash

Saw an article and now can't find on replacing the plastic rods holding the wire with clevis pins.
 
For my 67 controller... I drilled and tapped the remaining plastic disc portion to 10-32 and put a brass full thread screw in it with a dab of glue. Hex nut for cable keeper. Even with fine thread there isn't much thread in that thin piece of plastic but it worked.
Wernt no internet back when I was fingering out how to fix this stuff.

Thank you ,there was another fix using clevis pins that looked like a good idea but can,t find it
