Hey Cos, are you butt welding it in, and putting a U channel inside as a doubler reinforcement ? I know that's what I would do, after sandblasting and treating the inside of the crossmember.
I would recommend having the shop doing it to sandblast inside the rail and coat it with a good epoxy primer to seal it up.
