Are there any charts or apps for choosing a torque converter that allow you to input engine size, rear gear & tire size, etc.?

As Kim said, have one made for your specific combo. You will be most happy.

Go to Ultimate. PTC, Dynamic etc websites. Be brutally honest about ur car. U will be vey happy with what they recommend. Kim

Agree^^^. Also, have your setup complete before you expect the desired results. If you plan on an upgrade but don’t have it in place, or change your mind on that upgrade, it will affect the performance of the converter you buy. Happened to me, not of my doing, but in the end the converter ended up being too much for my combo.

yup call one of those guys and tell them exactly what you have and just as important its intended use and have one built to your combo. be 100% with yourself and the builder. a converter can make or break the combination. do it right do it once..

Calling an expert probly cant be beat , but cheaper by far if u just match the convertor to ur cam . gearing , use , and tires come into play too , but it aint rocket science.
A store bought one will work if u get it right , altho may not be quite as good as special built , but who knows w/o a comparison.

A purpose built converter will always be better. If ur completely honest. Ever wonder how/why a car will never run it’s number? Poor converter selection. Just ask anyone that’s had 1 built. Kim

I agree with having one custom made.....BUT WHAT is the intended usage of your car? If all you're gonna do is putt putt around town and do the occasional obligatory burnout, there's no need to spend the money on a custom converter. But anymore performance usage and you're gonna want something better than the 199 dollar special.
