That got a 340?

You should see people's faces whan i tell them it's a 413 big block when they ask if it's a 440! It's funny watching them trying to process it.

:lol:They still ask unless they’re behind me.

I tell them I have a 408 6 Pack. Shuts them up quickly. Like WTF is that? Lol

The guy sounds like a worthless piece of crap.
If you take your car to a show, there are always going to be a variety of people that are there, many are new to the hobby and are learning. I'd rather have a newbie ask questions in the interest of learning rather than a Numbers chasing purist blab on and on about what isn't OEM correct on the cars at the show.

Purists don't bother me much at all because when one spouts off I ask them where their car is, and then the excuses why they are driving a Prius (or whatever POS) starts.:D
My car drives people like that nuts, because I even have parts on it that were never car parts at all.
Like my recovery tank for example.
It was a thermos that looks like a big 12 gauge shell, and now it's my coolant recovery tank.
It's plumbed in the bottom and vented between the inner and outer layers of it.

Which reminds me I need a longer hose for it because I had to cut it shorter when and end split.:D

I never thought of keeping my coffee hot that way on the way to work. Nice idea. LOL

Everyone thinks my Dart sport is a duster. I explain the difference to them and give them the history on the demon becoming a dart sport.

I remember running a '79 Volare wagon, 225 super with a floor mounted 3 spd + OD. Was bright orange, with woodgrain on the sides. I put mags and huge tires on the back, and hung another tail pipe and chrome tip hooked up to nothing. Guys wouldn't race me, as the the car I had before was a Merc wagon with a 460 in it. Had a guy ask me if it had a 340.. told him 'nope, hi-perf Hillside Hemi'. Went around town I had a hemi in it, lol.

That I can kinda understand because they do look alike body shape wise.
I'd rather have a Dart Sport than a Duster because the Dart is getting where you don't see them much.
Dusters are all over the place.

If I saw a late Dart, or Demon, from far enough way to not see the Dodge badges, I'd call it a Duster.

the problem is you people keep talking to people. nothing good comes from that

You got a point there.
My favorite car shows are the ones that I get to drive for an hour or two for, because I almost like to drive the car more than looking at other cars.
I really like going by myself also, because a person I invited to ride along would also invite someone else or talk every minute of the trip.
Heck, it's a hard choice for me to make between listening to my car or one of my favorite songs playing.:D

I actually told one of my friends once he could talk as much as he wanted, but I was going to be driving instead of listening.
That was out of town in a city I didn't know and at night man.

I dont do many car shows, if fact the only time I drove my Duster this year was to one.
A good friend of mine passed away from a motorcycle accident, and his dad does a show every year, all the proceeds go to a local school for scholarship for kids.
I mostly ignore the comments made on peoples cars, when somebody does make me upset, I ask Where is your car?
That shuts the majority up.
I had one guy this year ask me if my car was a factory 4-speed, I said no I changed it over, no big deal to me. He was nice about it.
Found out later he owed the super nice Duster, that was a factory 4-speed, according to him.
Funny thing is most years I have brought my 48 Willys, nobody yet has questioned me if it is stock, even though it has a 3" lift, people just dont have the knowledge of older vehicles.

no pic? :(

i've never figured out why someone has the need to talk crap about someones car at a show. if you don't like it, move on. it's like going to a museum and complaining there's too many plus size chicks in those renaissance paintings

What few times I`ve been asked , they want to know if its a hemi , standing right beside the form S 440 badges .
Drove the barracuda down to re new the ins. on it this morning , stopped at mcd. to get a bite of breakfast . The fish drew a lot of attention, two were cute ladies , one took pics .All pretty much knew what it is, one guy had a 67 back in the day---------

Yea, he is. I don’t hang around him anymore. The level of rudeness and arrogance is beyond compare. One kid, and I mean kid, 18-19, asked what his car was. He actually screamed back at him, “It’s a F’in helicopter a-hole!” Great way to turn new people off and out of the old car shows and possibly ownership.

Tired of “Purists” to the point I don’t go to shows anymore.

I never did get into shows much, back when I was racing the hemi , the first show I was at , I listened to a guy talk about how fast his e 70 14 tired show car was, that was enough for me .
