Got this 2 barrel intake, it's a single plane, any idea what it came on? Is it desirable?

Yeah. Millions of 318s. And no.

May be a boat anchor, but I got one that will be going on a mild built 318 temporarily for a new driver to hobble it down a little bit. Eventually the 600 4bbl setup on an aluminum intake will replace it. Good for a TBI EFI conversion.

Long ago I had a completely stock '72 318 that ran like a scalded dog with that intake. Then again, i was young. :)

Years ago I made a poor mans torker out of one of those. Milled at flat area, where the carb went, and used "devcon" plastic steel, to epoxy a open 4 bbl 2 inch spacer. Then opened up the manifold to match the spacer. It worked well with a Holley 4 bbl from a 440, on my wifes 74 Dart 318.

There was one on my 69 d100 318.
The guy that bought the engine off me said it matched his twin 318 boat engines.

Oldiron440 Why do you disagree with my post?

I've got one from a 273 propped up against the wall next to my trash cans, have not bothered to lift it into the recycle can yet. It wont even make a good EFI intake...your injectors will be spraying onto the runner floor. One thing you could do if you had a Bridgeport mill would be to mill out the center and put a skinny Eaton M90 blower box into it.

Jumping in here rather late, but what the heck.
A bit of curiousity, on this single plane intake compared to the more common dual plane 2 bbl. My understanding is that single plane intakes are a better choice for higher end power and torque whereas the dual plane is better for lower end power. So was Chrysler's intention for these to be some sort of lame attempt at producing a higher HP 2 bbl 273/318?
Also with this 2 bbl single plane along with the torker I was also under the belief that a higher rise would help produce higher HP in the upper RPM'S. So what is with these pankake style single plane intakes?
A final thought. If you were building a mild 318 for say a dart with 3.23 gears and you had both intakes and a 500 CFM Holley 2 barrel what intake would you go with?
