Three in cars and around 5 or 6 on the shelf.
Getting ready to pick up a couple more from a friend who is letting some stuff go.

And “this one” would be ?
Gear ratio and case # ?...

it's listed on craigslist in Charlotte n.c.

it's a 4.88 us gear, dewco 30 spline spool and a 489 case...550$ and not really wanting to ship but I will for xtra.
located in Albemarle n.c.

Shipping would be cost prohibitive .
I was just curious...
What ratio ?

I've got two. Both are 489 pigs.
I wasn't sure what was in my Dart when I bought it about 12 years ago and knowing what my build plan was I found and purchased another 489 with a SG. That one came with 3.23 gears. My plan was to change out the pig that was already in the car.
When finally checking what was already in the car I found it already had a 489 with SG but still don't know what the gearing is. I'll check it when I finally pull the rearend out when the car comes home from paint - hopefully next month.
I already have the 200-4R OD manual-shift reverse valve body tranny with a lockup converter to go behind the 380-horse 360 crate motor. With the .67 OD in the 200-4R, I'm planning to run 4.30 gears. This will provide great acceleration and still give me the equivalent of 2.88 gears when in OD.
I plan on selling the extra 4.89 pig when the car is finally finished.

I only have 2. One of them is a 3.55 sure grip that is installed in my dart. The other is a 2.76 open that I removed from my dart. I plan to put 3.73 gears in the 2.76 housing and sell the 3.55 off.

To the guys that say they break easily tell that to my Son. His 3200 pound Duster had 4.10 gears with a spool, non backbraced rearend. It would 60 foot in the 1.38-1.41 range and run mid 6.50’s in the 1/8 and 10.20-10.30 in the 1/4. When he was racing weekly he would try to change out the gears every 3-4 years. Two of my cars have Dana’s and one has a Ford 9 inch as I moved away from them years ago. Oh he runs a transbrake too.

Your son is running a 8.75 then. Cool. Then I have a lot of horsepower to add before I need to worry.... :D

I saw a sticker on a Drag car that said "There is no part made this car can't break" .. LOL

I didn't break any of those parts but I did twist some...

That chunk was just for holding axles in.
It now has a 489 with a spool ,3.91s , 1350 billet yoke and custom 3” driveshaft.

At one time I had at least one of every ratio from 2.76 to 5.13s; except I never have had a 3.73 nor a 4.56. Lots of 3.23 chunks and down. At one time I had a lotta SureGrips too; one in every rear from 3.23 to 4.30s and a spool in the 4.88s, and usually a couple of spares. I'm slowly selling off the ones I haven't broken.
Currently the 3.55s are the biggest street gears I got, plus a couple of 4.88s left (One in a case, the other just gears in a box), Plus about 4 SureGrips, a spool, and one lonely Trac-Loc I'm sorta saving. oh yeah, and one narrowed housing to fit the springs into the frame rail, with matching short axles.

Just two here, both 489's. The 3.53 SG is going in the Valiant, and the other is set aside with 3.73's for the yet-to-be-found 69 Dart.

1 - 2.94 open in my car. Wish I could afford a 3.23 or 3.55 SG

When we were racing the Dakota, we had 4 742 cases, 2 with 4.30 gears & 2 with 4.86 gears. All of them had spools in them as it was a drag truck. Since we gave the truck to my partners grandson, he is happy with the 4.30's & sold the 4.86's. I have a Dana in my Demon bracket car, set up for 1/8th mile with 5.13's in it & 29.5 x 10.5 tires.

One 3.55 open because I am putting a new S60 in there. It’s a beautiful chunk of powder coated metal.

Might be able to get my hands on one thats under a 69 fury more door 318 car. What number should that chunk casting be if its stock?
489, 741, 742 ?

1. 742 488 spool in 76 Dart Sport
1. 742 456 spool for 73 Duster
1. 742 391 open for a sg later
1. 489 373 power loc belongs to a friend
1. 741 355 open rusty gear set
A couple sets of 2.94s and 2.76s gears if I need to go for top end.
