Mines black but cant see to much of it. To me a black engine compartment just helps the polished aluminum and regular aluminum just stand out more oh and the turbos mines just arent on yet need to cut some clearance. But to each is there own :thumbsup:

A few years back I had a neighbor who thought my 68 fastback was a camaro or a firebird or some such. I told him otherwise, and he kept calling it a camaro for the entire time I lived at that place.

Him: Too bad, you should get a posi unit. It will take off much better.

I gotta ask...What is the origin of this term? I've seen it several times on line but just recently my girlfriends dad asked if my GTX has a 3/4 race cam. I looked at him weird and told him it was .560" lift solid lifter cam.

It's roots were explained earlier in the thread, but it's being brought up because back in the day before the internet we searched for muscle cars in newspaper adds and " the Auto Trader" where every car with dual exhaust claimed to have a 3/4 race cam. My wife even recalls the term it was so commonly attached to any car with performance add ons.

Thanks! I did some snooping too. Seems 3/4 was not quite a full race cam.

Black engine compartments don`t bother me at all --------even tho mine isn`t.
