It's going to look amazing! All for under 100 for these 4 wheels and tires and the redline caps!!! I love being cheap, now I need to get the rallyes off and listed for sale idk what they are worth and then start pulling it apart! I'm so excited!

The 65 Barracuda that I bought a while back, has an F/M/J 8 1/4 that the previous owner installed. They didn't move the perches and the leaf springs look all whawed out of shape. It will be leaving when I fix the car!

yup, just because you can...
drive that 7 1/4 until you actually break it. maybe someone local has a set of bbp 7 1/4 axles

Oh I was just showing that it's an acceptable swap for our cars in width, because we weren't sure. The 8 1/4 has to have the perches moved in order to run it.
Me I'm just going to slap that 8 3/4 together, it's honestly the best axle and once it's done I won't want anything else.

yes you will LOL

So... I have no clue what to do on tires. My bf Goodrich radial ta's don't hook up when I punch it, and I would love a tire that hooks a little better but it seems like there aren't any unless you get slicks
The Nitto are only available in like a 275/60/15 and I don't think I can run those on the 15x7s, there is some vitour tire it's a Chinese company but I cannot find much info on them .

So my junkyard adventure I grabbed the front calipers, front lines, master cylinder with reservoir, proportioning valve, drums and backing plates, oh and the 5 wheels all for like 140 .

I could have saved a couple bucks if I didn't get the calipers, right now you can get brand new calipers with pads, a set, for 14 bucks on rock auto... I still will probably buy those because it's the same price as brake pads alone lol.

That 8 1/4 has a sure grip in it... I didn't take it though, I wonder what gears are in it.

Oh also i think I upset my wife leaving for 4 hours, maybe she needs an ice cream cone? Also she said now she isn't buying me a birthday present lol, I guess I'll have to borrow her card and buy myself some axle shafts and then be like "awe baby, you're so thoughtful and even knew the correct ones to get" when they show up

I have a set of 235/60/15 MT drag radials that stick like glue ( mild hp at best). I’m pretty sure a 235 or 245 DR would fit you current setup and give you all the traction you’ll need.

I like theae, but they are double the price in most sizes as the other tires and it frustrates me! Ha

I found that Cooper Cobras were a good tire, decent traction and tread life, fair price too.

I was looking at these, I need to get tires and axle shafts soon so I can swap out and start selling some of these other parts.

I like this sight though!

Is there a way to test out the carrier and gears before throwing it all under the car? Or do you just say f it and test it out when you install it and start driving it ha

Sprayed degreaser on everything and pulled out the pressure washer. I wish I could de-bead these at home but I can't unfortunately. They are a lot cleaner though.

Also picked up some paint and clear finish to get them a little nicer. Going to try something special out on the spare for my daughter.

I vote purple ! Only For your daughter's sake...of coarse...

I don't think you'd see much of the purple anyways as it's the spare and would be covered by a cap lol.

We also got a caliper paint to do the front calipers red. I want to paint the drums but don't know if I'm supposed to use some specific paint on those?

Also any thing about the trans and 3rd on how to test those outside of the car? Or anything to look for when turning it all?

I painted a 73 cuda grille with the silver and it turned out awesome, to bad we ended up blacking it out and doing an AAR treatment on it. It duplicates the original argent grille paint very well, I believe it would be good for ralley wheel center caps, I just wonder how well it will hold up.

Well I got 1 tire off! With my backyard debeader and 1 of my old tire pullers. My wife who complains about me spending money come and goes "you've been doing this for hours and haven't gotten anywhere, why didn't you just take it to the tire store?" :wtf:

Kids have been having fun though, I'll take them and get them all yanked off tomorrow. I also don't think hand sanding is going to clean these wheels, the red paint on the lip is super thick. Maybe I'll have to have them sand blasted, damn I really was hoping I could do the whole process at home.

Oh also I think I know what I'm going to do for tires- Mickey Thompson in the rears in a 245/60/15 and then like a cheaper 205 or 215 in the front? I feel like I looked through all of the big tire threads and I love the 275 rears but with the 8 3/4 and stock 68 tubs I don't think they will fit with even a 3/4 spring location. Oh and my 8 3/4 already has spring perches

I also have to figure out what I am going to do for shock plates, I feel like those damn things are so expensive?

thought you were making chorizo when i saw the pic

wire cup brush on a 4" grinder will take the paint off fast. use a face shield and don't have the kids around though

Ok I'll pick one up tomorrow! Should I try a paint thinner/remover after?
