I have to drop my exhaust to get the oil filter off. I planning on doing a oil filter relocation kit until I stumbled across a 90 degree adapter. Does anyone have a picture of one installed? I would like to get an idea of how much clearance I would have.

try unscrewing the filter, place it on the T-bar (hole up), and reach in from above to pull it out

That is exactly how I do it. Works great.

I put a 90 degree after on my 360 and had nothing but issues. I was priming the engine on the stand and the sealing washer on the bolt blew out. It shot a stream of oil 10 feet away. That was a mopar gasket set. I bought some "improved" gaskets and had leaking issues with those.

Interesting.... I’ve ran the Mopar Performance 90deg adapters and never a leak... I’ve only used superformance gaskets though...

The picture is the only one I have at the moment where you can see it on the side of the block there...

Now those “Superformance” baskets are really freakin good!!!!

By the way.... is that a Passon 5spd?

Do you need a 90* adapter?
PM me.

Yes that is a Passon 5 speed. After a 5 year wait, I received it in December of 2017. LOL.. I don’t have the car running just yet, it’s in for paint, so I can’t comment on how it works...

Shorter.. Or skinnier?

Just use the right angle adapter and make damn sure you get the correct gaskets. You can rotate it so you can get the clearance you need.

I never run the short filters. They are a big enough restriction when you use the full size filter.

it's hard to tell how much space between the pipe and the filter, what manifold is that? i've had a few 340's with stock manifolds and headpipes, and never had a problem getting them on / off. i don't know what kind of filter wrench your using, but have you tryed one of these from the top?

Stock manifolds.. Crap pinch bent exhaust that came on the car when I got it. I finally use a big ok set of channel locks. The problem is that the filter hits the exhaust right before it completely threaded off.

You might have to loosen the pipe.

Adapters and a remote mount work too. Get the filter vertical and away from the exhaust heat. Canton makes an adpator for SBM; several remote mounts are out there.

But I'd be sorely tempted to 'massage' that pipe a bit...

I have been using the short/small filters for years on my street cars and race cars. Never had any problem with it being a "restriction". Big block and small block. I guess I have been doing things the wrong way for 40+ years. Do what you want, I was just trying to help.
