been diggin into what regulator filter to use for my magnum swap. i have read on FABO about the LS filter regulator but it puts out 59 psi and i would still requre a secondary regulator to bring psi down to 50. so has anybody ever used the jeep grand cherokee regulator filter? it puts out 50 psi. i wanted to mount it close to the tank so i have a short return line and just use the factory hard fuel line to the fuel rails. they are only about 35 bucks. much cheaper than the alternatives.

i bought the aeromotive genIII 200lph tank

Why not just go with an adjustable regulator from Summit?
Or replace the pump with a pump actually rated for the engine?
Curious why you are having an issue with this as it has been done hundreds of times on here already with awesome success.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I've used the corvette regulator before without an issue. It was several years ago and I had lowered my truck and drug a hole in the tank. I needed a quick fix and put a fuel cell, electric pump, and corvette regulator. I drove it daily for a few years without issues until I got rear ended.

so a magnum will run on 58 psi with no problems? i thought magnums had to have 50psi

because a summit regulator and separate filter would be many times the cost of the dodge jeep regulator and it would not have the built in filter. i would also have to buy alot more an fittings with a summit one.

i just thought the jeep regulator/filter combo had a nice stock look to it and had the correct psi. am i wrong. the LS setup with all the an fittings is on tanks inc. for 70 bucks which is not a bad deal. i just thought the 58 psi is too high for the magnum fuel rail/injectors.

tainks inc. LS reg/filter

Like I said, it's probably not ideal, but it worked great for me. I also had a ported intake manifold, bigger throttle body, headers, exhaust, modified the crank sensor to advance the timing, etc. The extra fuel was probably needed.

There are some years of magnums that have a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. You can basically run any high pressure EFI pump and the rail should regulate it.

Early magnum days, trucks with the returnless fuel systems were having regulator failures, eide open pressure was somewhere around 175 psi.
Changed quite a few regs, could pop them in between tank and box floor.
58 should still be controllable via ecm/o2 sensors. The few extra wouldnt hurt if engine is chooched up a little...

I had a problem with my sister's jeep Cherokee and it's regulator mounted on top of the tank. They went bad about every 6 months. Eventually put a used OE unit in it from a salvage yard in and fixed it for good. It's been going good for a couple years now.

I can't remember what magnum application used the return style rail with the regulator built in. But I found a picture of one on Google.

Hey el5dart,
Did you end up going with the Cherokee regulator / filter? If so, what year Cherokee did you buy one from?
