Ran over a deer with my dart this morning, it was already dead laying in the road. Doing around 70mph. Didn't see any body damage on dart, some flesh and blood on frame rail. What should I check underneath? Seemed to drive fine, but plan on having alignment checked.
Thanks
Aaron

If it drives fine after, no need to have anything checked, but I would hit the carwash and blow all the blood and guts off... Otherwise you will be attracting alot of flies.

If I hit a deer with my car I would (STEP 1) check the deer for a heat beat..if it's dead gut it, take it home and eat it. If it's not dead.....kill it and go to STEP 1.

Caddy in front of me sent one airborne, I'll be damned if it didn't land smack square in the trunk of my Chevelle.

I'd check the front bumper from the front to see if it's still straight, and the inner fenders for any new wrinkles. And wash the stuff off, car wash or hose. Check under the hood real well too.. chunk of intestines up in the engine bay if not washed off will make your car smell like a 70 year old hobo with a load in his pants and dried puke on his shirt... I know from experience, lol.

I hit one with my 70 Chrysler Newport on the way home from work one night when I lived in Erie, wasn't a mark on the car. The only thing I checked was how it went with a good marinade.

I wanna know where you were when you happened to be close enough to smell a "70 year old hobo with a load in his pants and dried puke on his shirt"???/:rofl:You did say that you "knew from experience???"

Seattle, when I was about 10. Pa took us on an all day walk downtown and the docks. Yes, I know that smell.. but I was giving OP an idea of how his car would smell if he doesn't get all the stuff off.

I'd check the pantry and fridge for some mushrooms and onions. Then I'd get cooking! 65'

One night coming back from my Brothers house 180 miles from home I hit an entire semi truck tire cap doing 80.
By the time I saw it, it was WAY to late and the only choice I had was about where on the right side I would rather it go under the car.
I picked just inside the tire and WHAMMO!
Everything seemed fine after, and I was watching all the gauges for temp, volts, oil pressure with no indication of any problems.
The next day I went to leave the house and something just seemed off, and a closer inspection showed the inside bead of the right tire was off the shoulder of the rim to the inside. (like the tire was just put on but not seated on the rim)
Soooo close to a blowout at any moment from the bead coming off.

Check your driving skills.

That and dents in your driveline and brake lines. Hooves can do some serious damage. Animal hits can do a lot of damage. It was wise of you to ask.
