Who here has installed 1? Other than the obvious of removing the old vb, what else has to be done. Do I need to just leave the servo’s as is? Is there supposed to be a spacer in the low/ rev servo? How about the front servo? 1 or 2 springs in it? Thanks. Kim. There really isn’t any info on line

KIm- I've never installed or used one, but I did call and ask about front clutch piston springs once... I was told to install all 15. I can't help with anything about the servos. 727 specialist (Keith?) over on Moparts was the go-to Griner guy I believe. Good luck, Karlin.

Karlin , Thank u very much. I found out to block the rear servo solid. Kim
I found my instructions on when I got my Griner Transbrake. They want the vent relocated, a bleed hole in the high clutch drum, and the rear servo shimmed solid.

I did find some instructions on line. They also said to remove the accumulator. The separator plate covers that spot. I haven’t hooked the T brake wire to the switch. First and reverse go into gear fine. Second and third not so much. I drove it up and down the driveway slowly and i can hardly tell it shifts. I would think that with it running full line pressure that it should shift pretty hard. Next week I’ll run t down the highway to see if it’s working properly. Right now I’m pretty disappointed. Kim

Mine doesn't shift very hard on jack stands of driving through the pits, but shifts fine going down the track. Mine has to have voltage to the solenoid and the shifter in reverse or neutral for the car to back up. And the shifter has to be in first when you apply the transbrake.

Finally got to drive my car last night. It shifts not bad, nice and crisp but not as hard as I thought it would. When going slow I can hardly tell it shifts. Kim

Kim, put a pressure gauge in line on the pressure side of the pump & see what the reading is. You may be losing line pressure causing soft shifts, or erratic shifting. Just my .02

I did. 220 psi. They recommend it to be 165-220. Also the adjuster is at 10 turns. 727 trans says start at 4 turns. 904 start at 6 turns. I will add that I only went as high as 4000 rpm cause I had my ratty storage tires on it. I think it will be fine when I do a full on pass. Kim

Yeah, with that pressure you should be fine once you put some good tires on it. I'd be leery also on older ties, one coming apart isn't a pretty mental picture.

4 turns and 6 turns. Never heard that before. Everything I've heard is 2 turns max for a brake.

Ya there just old tires for storing it. I have a 12 point cage and all the safety equipment but I didn’t want to have to put it to use. Kim

It’s in the Griner instructions. Kim
Could you post exactly what it says. I have never heard of a band adjustment of 10 turns on a torqueflite, nor 6.
The 904 with a double wrap band has a recommendation of 4 turns in the factory shop manual but several sources including John Cope tell me that is way too loose and he recommends 2 turns.
My tranzact brake recommends 1 3/4 turns.
