Whats gonna happen to ur Mopar collection of cars and parts when u pass away? I have stuff I’m sure I’m never gonna get too. Many $ wise new parts also as well as old parts. I’m only asking this as a guy we know passed away and his wife was blown away with how much crap he collected (not a car guy). Didn’t know what it was worth. Didn’t know where to start. She just had a friend haul it to the dump. I was shocked. At least now she can park the car in the garage. What u say? Kim

My condolences Kim. Sorry to read. Its overwhelming for your friend. When my time comes, Lori will get in touch with friends/family for help and advice. Next call will be to auctioneer. Testosterone and estrogen levels go up as well as prices at things like that.
My car parts are for the most part organized now so I know what I have/need and what I dont need.
Feels good to purge.
Again our condolences.

The last few years I've been trying to assemble complete engines and make a file of just what they are but I need to get rid of the parts I will never use. My daughter is the one who will be dealing with everything so I've gotten rid of thirty five years of junk in the house also, that was a 2500 lbs trip to the landfill.
The benefits to downsizing is space and freedom.

That's a good question for me also, as i have given that a good deal of thought in the past couple of years.
For me i'm the end of the line.
I don't have any wife, kids, family, so when i conk out there's nobody left in the gene pool.
So i talked to a good friend of mine, about what to do with whatever's left of my collection, stash, hoard, rat hole of parts that i may have left when i conk out, and get buried.
He's really not a car guy, but let's call him the executor of my estate, when i die.
Told him to just take a sledge hammer to whatever's left, and bring everything down to Schnitzers Steel for scrap metal, so he doesn't have to deal with anybody in trying to deal with anybody in selling parts at fire sale prices, and profit off my death.
I got so pissed of at humanity, friends that i thought were friends of mine, 5 years ago when i was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and a bone marrow, white blood cell cancer.
Got sick and tired of the vultures, and piranhas circling my driveway, when they heard of my diagnosis, figuring i was going to die, and getting parts from me at low ball, rock bottom, fire sale prices.
Sold a rare part to who i thought was a "friend" of mine at a very fair price, then i see it advertised on ebay, for triple what he paid me for it.
That really pissed me off.
Sure would have been nice of them to come forward and say to me, how can i help you sell your parts, and get full market value for them?
Buy no, only two people, friends, ever came forward with help full offers.
One friend that previously went thru prostate cancer, and another that i sold one of my cars to, that became a very good friend to me.
So the way i personally feel about it, nobody is going to get anything that's left of my stash, and that's just the way it's gonna be.

I’m making my list, checking it twice. Jim, I know his u feel. I have so called buddies that I never see anymore cause they burned me b4. They would get parts from me to build their cars, sell them for good coin and never give me anything for the parts. Their excuse was that since they got the parts a couple of years ago that they have went up in price so much so I said u don’t have to pay me, just replace them. I told them that when they got the parts from me. Never happened. Now they can’t understand why I won’t give them the time of day. Kim

End of the road for me. If my wife's kids don't shape up and she goes first, they'll get nothing. I have nothing, no more branches on this family tree, but i know some good people that could use some of my stuff. If I get cancer in a serious way and the wife is gone by then, I'll sell it all and drown in hot escorts.

I deal with this literally every day as an estate planning and probate attorney. It's so important to create a last will and testament, if not a revocable living trust. That way, you can ensure that your collection goes to who you intend it to, instead of leaving bewildered, non-car-enthusiast family members to figure it out.

I couldn't care less what happens to my stuff when I go. If my son is in a good place maybe he will take it. Maybe Jamie will save some for my son or daughter who knows. Maybe Jamie will just sell it off for whatever she can get. Doesn't really matter to me.

I’ve started to sell the parts that I accumulated over the years that I know that I’ll never need. If I do need them I have the money from the parts that I sold to buy them again. Oh I’ll have stuff left over when I go but I have friends that will help my wife get rid of them.

My wife knows what all my stuff is worth. She and our son will take care of it. We have a will and all, I would like our granddaughter to have one of the cars but her mom wont let her drive anything without an airbag.

Start organizing and selling now. My daughter knows what everything is worth. I didn't save my stuff to scrap it. When I'm gone who cares what it goes for.

I’ve gotten rid of a lot of stuff over the past 10 years. Bought a lot of shop equipment with the money! Still have more stuff than I will ever get to, but it’s there. Hope to finish my Duster someday, but starting to wonder about that too.

There's a hemi powered mopar waiting for you on the other side. I wouldn't worry about what happens on this side.

I n the act of tearing down two barn/shed buildings , and getting ready to haul junk off. Next will be getting rid of the extra stuff I`ve accumulated building the barracuda , will price it low enough to cover a lot of shipping charges when that time comes. Trying to make life a little easier for my kids.
Had an A FIBB ? deal in August, top 1/2 of my heart was beating 144-180 times a minute, the bottom half wasn't , took till 1 in the morning for the dctrs to get it back in line .
Taking a couple meds now to control it . Also took a chemical stress test , blood flowing good all thru everywhere ,even thru a very short vein or artery out of the bottom of my heart
that had a little blockage .
73 TOMORROW---DAM THAT SOUDS OLD !!
SEEM TO HAVE LOST MY GET UP AND GO SINCE---Disregard caps !

The main reason I have the mopar parts I have today is because others took the time and care to hang onto them.

Life has changed for these people, some health issues, some have passed, some realize they are never going to finish their projects with 2 daughters in collage, some are just plain busy with life and want to clean out and keep moving forward, some are mopar parts people for profit.

All of them cared about things enough to be able to have good things to pass on to the next peson, even the ones that have passed away.

I have turned some mopar cars and parts and looking back, everything has gone to good people that are keeping the dream alive.

Feels good knowing that the efforts and time I have put into cars and parts is carrying on through the new owners, keeping this car culture alive. People are putting things to good use and careing for them to live another day.

I don't know that there is a good answer to this one.... Without going into any great detail a close racing friend of mine asked me to liquidate his racing program and car parts as he fought cancer the last few months of his life... It really changed my outlook on how life works but I will say that after making peace with it all I am glad he accepted his fate and was able to control some components of his life literally until the evening of his death..... It left that part of his life with a final chapter and it was an honor to be the soldier for him....

RIP Stevie....

Hey Kim, I know you have a daughter but if you adopt me, I'll take care of your cars and parts! Not saying I'll out live you though!

Thanks Steve. I’m trying to get organized as u never know when ur number is up. Kim
After my heart surgery I have started to thin the herd a bit. I went on a buying spree the last few years (for me anyway) and came home with a few hundred $$ worth of un_- needed parts from every swap meet. :BangHead: Time to sell some of it and clean things up a bit. Less for the wife and kids to mess with when I'm gone. Probably a good idea for us +65 year olds. Hell, I might sell both of my cars and buy a nce 64 Dodge. I want to own one before they take my license away.
