One hinge has a spring, the other hinge has two small holes to accommodate the spring, but no spring. Did the factory install one spring or two springs on the assembly line? Thank you.

On the 65 Barracuda I parted out, it had only 1 spring. The 66 Barracuda dash I have also has only one spring.

My 67 barracuda had only 1 spring, I thought the same thing too. Then I thought about it from a manufacturers standpoint. I think the deal with the extra holes in the other hinge was simply from manufacturing. Weather it's a left or right hinge, they were prob all stamped out of flat sheet stock to a flat shape, then put in a press that will stamp the part either as a left or a different press that stamps it as a right. The hinge pin holes were probably used as alignment pin holes for the stamping press. I can just imagine somebody standing at a machine all day stamping out the flat pieces into a bucket, then shuffling em off to somebody else that puts em in a press one at a time, stamps it to shape. Pops it out And puts another in stamps that one, all day long for 8 hours a day.

64 to 66 I know it's just one spring. Just as 65 Dartman said. Not sure about 63 but would assume one spring.

The original design probably had 2 springs.

Then they figured out they only needed one.

Didn't want to change the metal stamper after the fact.
