Now that my 70 Duster is drivable, I’ve been fixing all of the small things. Like my 2 speed windshield wipers have never worked. I thought it was a bad motor but after digging deeper I think it’s switch related. In the harness that plugs into the wiper switch, there’s several wires that plug into the switch, except for the red wire. It looks like it would line up with this spot on my switch (see picture) but there’s no spade for it to connect to. Do I have the wrong switch or is the spade broken off? I’ve tried looking for pictures online but can’t find any that actually show all of the spades.

The two lines of numbers stamped onto the side are
2864415
23199
There’s also a smaller number of 1660

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Something came up and I was gone for a few days

Doesn't look broken to me, but an unused terminal for the application.
Note how the other terminals have a little tab that goes down into the holes and a rivet next to the holes.
There is/was no rivet for that spot.

Also note that on a lot of these cars the switch has to be grounded to the dash for the wiper motor to work.

THAT WAS IT! I’ve been testing the switch outside of the dash and didn’t have it grounded. I have working wipers now.
Thank you!

I may have a 2864415 switch if interested.
I have a 1970 Duster with all new harness and the wiper switch clicks and the wipers do not work. Do you think its a ground. How did you ground your switch to the dash

I had to run a ground wire from the motor to the firewall and one from the cluster to the dash. There was a small screw hole in the back of the cluster so I just used a small screw and wire I had to ground the cluster to the dash. The switch and switch mounting surface may need to be lightly sanded too.

Our first 67 fish had a odd variable 3 speed motor. If that switch wasn't grounded by its mounting the motor wouldn't stop running (park switch inop I guess). To drive the car without its inst' panel for a few weeks, I had to fab a temporary mount for that switch.

On a car you can’t have too many grounds. Good grounds from the engine to the frame and from the frame to the dash will save you a lot of time & money on the electrical problems you won’t have to troubleshoot.
