Beaker cars

-
I sent a member a part for one for FREE and paid the shipping!!! Never got a response saying thank you... piss off....nothing....that’s what it has to do with a beaker!
You sent him a beaker part and you thought he ought to thank you? I would have been glad to get rid of it.

Still, the guy could have at least thanked him for the free parts, it's the right thing to do............

Lookie who made the cover for Christmas.
In reviewing this thread I think I sense beak envy.

I don’t mind the look of the beak cars that much on the outside. I’m not a fan of all the brown or tan interior and boring dashes. I’d own one and buy one no prob tho.

So I was talking to a guy regarding 73 and newer dodge darts and dart sports, and he was passionately expressing his opinion as to how ugly they are.

This is not the first time I have heard this.

Why do people act like these cars have leprosy or something??

I like them and I would think that if they are so despicable then no one would have bought them new but yet it seems they were pretty hot sellers in the 70 and 80s, so what am I missing here?

MAY BE COPARING THEM "IN THEIR MIND" TO PREVIOUS BETTER LOOKIN MOPARS , I`m guilty of that !

Well, with comments like "nice car" yelled at me three or four times a day I don't think there is a lot of hate there.
Mainly it seems to be just Mopar owners that have a pre 73 that ***** about the beak.

Hope u aint talkin about me "yelling" , I hit the caps button all the time , and don't want to retype the message , cant type worth a ---- anyway !!

No not at all, as I am used to your caps and why it happens.:D

Let's face it. The park bench era bumpers were not Detroit's finest hour :BangHead:.
The massive bumper guards are removable, the shock abortion bumper mounts can be dealt with.
Getting the bumpers closer to where they belong and getting rid of that gap in between makes a huge difference. I saw one with the bumpers painted with the body color, pretty stylish looking actually.

The park bench era showed how far ahead Chrysler engineering was. They accomplished meeting unreasonable government regulations and accomplished near impossible things such as bumpers that could bounce back from an impact. They really had to think and come up with solutions to huge problems.

I actually like the looks of the ''beak'' cars better.
And as a matter of fact, it's not hard to remove the extra bumper supports in them if that's the main concern...........
FWIW, the '67-'69 Barracudas were the first ''beak'' cars.
A ''73-'76 Dart Sport hood has exactly the same contours as a '69 Barracuda hood.

That is what I noticed looking at a '69 Barracuda one day. That's the same hood that the 73-76 Darts and Dart Sports used. That is where it was born in 69, so the designers built the beak on to it trying for a new hit styling . . . the rest is history.

My first two Mopars back in the day were beakers... 73 Dart Custom and 75 Dart Sport. I loved that Dart Sport but will admit to coveting thy neighbour's Demon more than one or twice. :D

I then had a couple of Demons, and now my '70 Swinger (love that face!), but looking back that Dart Sport was still a really good looking car in its own right.
