64 Plymouth brake shoe hold down springs

I wonder if you can switch to the regular Bendix type with the pin, spring, and retainer?

Prob can with no issues. I have no idea why they did that. Think it is a 9" thing just 64 and 65. I want my car close to oem so I am using them.
