So if my parts manuals are correct. The drum brake and disc brake lower ball joints are the same on the 73 and newer A bodies.
I have a bad left lower on my disc brake car and I have a pair of drum brake assemblies laying here. I’m going to take one apart and see if it fits.

UPDATE. Yes they fit just fine.. confirmed 73 up lower ball joints are the same drum or disc. on a side note... This car also had the big upper ball joints so the upper control arms are the same as the Large bolt pattern disc brake ones.
The doner car was a 73 dart sport //6 auto 4wheel drum brakes 7.25 rear 4" bolt pattern.

Nope. 73 drum lower ball joint is same as 67-72 drum ball joint
Nope, That's Incorrect.
A 73-76 10 inch DRUM brake lower ball joint, is the same thing as a 73-76 DISC brake lower ball joint.
And
1972 and earlier DRUM brake lower ball joints are the same
And
1965 - 72 Kelsey Hayes DISC brake lower ball joints are for disc's, using 9/16 mounting bolts to the spindle.

I stand corrected. Was always told 73 up disc ball joints were different than 73 drum ball joints. How about uppers? I have access to a 74 drum brake slant sux valiant. Would it have BBJ UCAs ?

Ok cool deal, thanks!! i will need to go check it out next weekend, and pull em if its got em. When did front drum brakes stop being used on A bodies. Also were all 73 up drum brake cars equipped with BBJ UCAs?

Drum brakes were used up until the end in 1976 on the A body's with the slant six engine.

Did all those from 73-76 with drums in the front use BBJ UCAs ? I ask this because theres still a few A bodies in my boneyard later than 72 but with drums up front. I had previously passed em up. Wanted to verify before i go out there looking with a floor jack and a sack of tools.

Yes, go get em.

Yes very likely it would have the large uppers..

Wooohoooo i need to head to the junky. Its gonna rain all week, so it will be a muddy mess. May have to pass till next week.

I’m curious as to the difference between the 1965-69 Kelsey Hayes lower ball joints and the 73 up ball joints.

Thanks guys. Just looking for quality ball joints and I have never dealt with the newer A bodoies to have any comparisons.
Proforged only lists lower left for Kelsey Hayes.
I have an inquiry out to them as to why only one side is offered and am waiting to hear back from them.
No one else seems to care about quality and NOS Mopar are stupid money.

Try joints made by XRF. They deal w jobber only. Not retail box store. High quality parts. Priced about what you pay for new moog, but way better quality. Read the reviews, dont velieve what i say. Research em yourself. I have em for my 67 and sons 69.

I have a 72 dart, big upper ball joints, doc diff brake kit. Do i buy lower ball joints for a 72 or 73 and up?

73-76 "disc brake" lower ball joints, and these bolts in grade 8 with self locking stove nuts. 2&5/8" is actually long enough for the bolt. Do NOT get nylon locking nuts.

If running 67-72 style sway bar You will have to run the 73-76 calipers at the back of the axle centerline not the front of the axle centerline for swaybar clearance with the early bar.

67-72 bar bolts at the front of the K frame, 73-76 bar goes thru the K frame.

If you have to mount the calipers behind the axle centerline because of your swaybar, use a pair of 69 camaro front disc brake flexible hoses to hook them up. 15.5" long, they fit just right.

Could it be said; that if your car has original
4.5bc wheels, then it will also have the bigger 73up BJs?
And if it has original 4" bc wheels, then it will have the smaller 72down BJs?
Except if it has 10" drums, from 73-76, which could be either?
