Put the finishing touches on my new rug install with some floor mats from factoryinteriors.com....Still hoping to find rubber/vinyl mats instead of the rug material i bought, Still looks great comparedView attachment 1715407554 View attachment 1715407555 to nothing at all.

How was the fitment of the carpet? Looks nice. Checked their website, pretty reasonable prices. Good people to deal with?
 
Got the drivers side door jamb stripped,ready for primer.Now start the other side.

Since I got my paint done finally, I went back to work on my LED outside lighting.
The back lights have had the center part of the lenses cut out leaving just the outer frames and replaced with smoked Lexan and stainless allen machine screws with a red LED brake/tail panel behind the smoke Lexan.

Backup lights are white LED panels with a slight purple color (sunlight they call it) and white frosted tint behind the lexan, also with the stainless Allens.

Yesterday I pulled the grill, took the stock silver lenses off and trimmed the cracked all to hell center clear out and painted them satin black.
Then the smoked Lexan covers with the insides of the light housing painted black and the orange LED parking/signal panels.

The LED's give a real high definition to the lights instead of hazy diffused colors like stock lenses that I really like.

Finally, the fronts match the rears.

Yesterday our car club (the Twisted Axle Car Club (check us out on FaceBook)) ventured out on our "Smiles Per Gallon Tour". The tour involved 12 cars, traveling ~225 miles in a 10 hour trip. We had lots of stops, met some cool people and enjoyed the day. One of the coolest stops was at the "Bruce Mansion" (see more on FB). We pulled into the party store/gas station next door when the mansion's owner was coming out and noticed all the cars. After hearing the story of the mansion he allowed us a photo opportunity:

I spent Sunday working on the car. Pulled the old springs off and prepped the new ones. Broke one of the rear shackles so I ordered a set. Found a truck spring company up in NY that had them for $40 shipped. Spent the rest of the day on my back scraping the old undercoat off the bottom. Dirty job but made some decent progress. Also dug out the 3 way adjustable front spring hangers I picked up several years ago for it. They will give me. Stock, -1, and -2 choice.

I was sick of my leaking 1920 carb bowl gasket, I had replaced it with a new gasket, straightened the bowl , replaced it with cork, no avail.

I cut a gasket out of 1/8 viton rubber sheet, bolted it right up ...no leaks !
 
Did some painting lady night. I'll get better pics tonight and will throw some paint on the rear end and other parts.

Finished the gas cap for my 1972 Dart. There is a story behind this. But that's for another time.

I was a mechanic and/or shop Foreman for most of my life.
Just switched to computer service 20 or so years ago when I got tired of working on other people's cars and trucks.

Speaking of Computer Service, just installed the latest Linux Operating System.

I have a couple of Linux OS computers here, but not that one.
Don't use them much because most of what I do requires MS software.
(programs that won't run anywhere else)

It is backlit with a strip LED inside the perimeter of the cluster housing and controlled with an inline dimmer via remote control. The regular bulb sockets also have white LED's which are controlled with the headlight dimmer knob as a backup.
 
Pulled the windshield out of the parts car today and sat the broken one back in there to keep the snow out.Factory 340 Dart Sport.Shame it's so rusty

Well after help from everyone figuring out that my flex plate bolt was rubbing on the inspection cover and taking care of that, everyone pointed out that I had an exhaust leak. Well I knew that, but it was low on the priority list. So I decided to track it down today. Hooked up my leaf blower to one of the tailpipes, plugged the other, and sprayed down the exhaust from the engine back and discovered a pretty major manifold leak on the driver side near the firewall.

Now to decide how to handle it.

Now to decide how to handle it.

Pull the manifold, inspect the sealing surfaces, they usually leak at the center 2 ports, slightly warped manifold. Have it machined straight and true, new gaskets and good to go again.

On a second thought if you have the flat flange 340 style manifold it is easy for them to blow that gasket out at the manifold to the exhaust pipe.

Other style bell flange manifolds are easier to keep sealed, just got to keep them tight.
