I've got a 1970 Barracuda that is a factory slant six car. It did not have an engine in it when I got it. I've put a slant out of a 70 Dart in and need a carb, it's a 1 barrel. They seem quite difficult to find, was the Holley 1920 the factory carb used in 1970 ?? Also I was considering a 1 to 2 barrel adapter plate. I will probably run into kickdown linkage and accelerater connection problems. If anyone has advise I would really appreciate it.

It was either the Holley or a Carter BBS 1bbl. I don't know offhand for 1970. I am not a big fan of the Holley, and in general the 1bbl is a choke point for slant six performance, such as it is. I don't think a 2bbl adapter would get you much, either (you still have the tiny throat issue) — if you are going to solve the linkage and kick down issues with the 2bbl, you might as well get a 2bbl manifold — there is one for sale right now. With a Bouchillon kick down and a V8 throttle cable, you would be good to go.

Agree on this, and Mopar is famous for going.........."oh, we're out of 1920's today, so we'll keep building cars but stick on Carters for a while". There's no way to figure out what it originally came with.

I have a Holley 1920 that is still on my car. I rebuilt it two years ago when I bought the car and it runs great. I'm doing a 4-BBL swap this winter, so I won't need the carb any more. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Don't you be no sissy now. lol

Since its a heavy car 1970 barracuda 1 barrel will help it move.

I'm sure he is kidding. I agree with the concept of using a two-barrel carb on a two-barrel manifold, likewise with a four barrel. You may want to check out the Weber progressive two-barrel. Or...you may want to skip the carb all together and go with fuel injection. There were a couple of years when GM had a MPFI set-up on their V-6 that worked wonderfully on the 225. It was improved into the SMPFI which won't do the job. There is a computer and a bunch of wiring that needs to be harvested the same time the engine hardware is grabbed. There is a bunch of work involved, but it has been done. I'm not sure the FABO archives have anything on it, but is worth checking it out. The 225 also responds well to force feeding, too.

Lol Not really when slap a two barrel on a stock slant, low end is lost a bit, and mid and top end is gained. Gets more noticeable with a four barrel, but the top end freeway drive ability is a lot better. But then again your car do what you want. I would up the compression then slap that two barrel on it.
