I bought a factory manual press with all characters to re stamp vin numbers in the sheet metal of mopars . Its old but it is correct and still works.

Perfect when you are replacing a front clip or rear body parts which we do a lot of. I have been looking for one for several years. I knew someone must have taken one from the manufacture. Now I have one coming.

Paid the price there was a bidding war among a hand full of guys that new he had it. I kept my mouth shut until I struck the deal. I love buying tools and equipment we don't have.

I also bought another snap-on blast cabinet. Now I'll have one for crush glass to remove rust and one for fine glass beads to clean and polish. we were forever changing over to do intakes and heads to polish them, Now I won't have to. Delivered tonight I'll get some pics when it arrives later. Snap-on wanted over $8000.

We bought it used for a lot less its just like the one we have. I had them all "scat blast" "Blast-all" and others the snap on with the rotisary that lifts up and down worked the best. They have extended doors so you can put fenders in.


A picture of the one we have now behind the guy that was proud of a tractor we did for him. No thats not me . I am a hell of a lot better looking than that. LOL

He came home with it. It needs some updates but came with alot of new parts. Bags , Gloves, Windows and protectors. They sold it for $800. We couldn't pass it up. They were not happy with it. My son saw the problem and showed them after it was loaded. They were in an awe, Just a simple self inflicted problem they caused by themselves.

I can’t wait to see that press, that would be cool to have.
 
I don't know if its legal to own. It may be a little warm to touch. But its something that I always wanted. We had one at Mack trucks. They would bring it to the booth to re-stamp cabs in the staging area where we put the cardboard in the window frames and spot primed them. Damage cabs were replaced on the line if the originals had issues from unloading them off of the freight cars.

They would never leave that crimp er there. Two guys would walk it out and take it with them. They never left us touch it. and never sat it down. We tried buying them lunch to get them to take their eyes off of it. They were not falling for it. It looked heavy but wasn't the guy using it was a whimp

This one looks the same as the one we had at Mack. air operated C-clamp unit with deep jaws.
 
Is this for the VIN on the body or the VIN plate on the dash???
 
He said body parts. VIN plates are reverse stamped anyway. There's plenty of crooks that have the ability to do that, and Oldmanmopar has NEVER appeared to be one of those people.
 
A guy back in Az has been repoping fender tags for several decades, he did or does Galens also I am told. He is a Ford guy and that is his choosen field. Repoping a fender tag is not illegal, vin tags are illegal. I know of outlaw guys that has done vin tags years back also. If you are buyng a real hemi or 6 pac ya better know what is what no doubt.
 
I read about a guy that would change the vin on engine blocks. Always wondered if it was a ploy to acquire engine blocks.
 
I would think it would be harder for GM guys. Some of the characters are weird shaped, like for instance the number 8. The top of it is flat on a GM VIN tag. Where in the world would you find a stamp like that?
 
We put wheels on it and put it in its spot. everything in this room has to be movable so we can move things out to paint . Most of all of our equipment except for mills and lathes and engine machines are on iron wheels.

I'll go to Wensco and get what we need to convert the blast cabinet over to the same nozzle and a pick-up tube as ours. Plus a vibrator . No blast cabinet works without a vibrator. It not only keeps the abrasive flowing it makes the big particules sink to the bottom so they don't get picked up by the V-wand we install and clog the nozzle. That is why they sold this $8700 dollar blast cabinet for $800. Also they never put a under table fine screen in it.

I'll take some pictures of the difference if someone is interested

Ours never clogs or stops blasting until its out of abrasive above the V-wand.

We are looking for 6 ft. snap-on cabinet now for fenders , rear housings , driveshafts , doors. The Big stuff. If we don't find one for the right price. We'll make extended box doors for one..

Three would be nice one for "Glass beads". One for "Crush glass". and one for "Aluminum oxide".

Nice cabinets. the one i bought is a touch smaller, can fit a-body headers in it.
i pulled the filters and exhaust directly outdoors through the wall. The cyclone works well.i added a screen to trap larger debris,which really helped a lot. the biggest thing was finding a decent blast gun.

When we put a clip on a car. I will re stamping the rad support to match the vin tag. I'll also use it on old tractors we restore when replacing side panels that have numbers. For show purpose. I am sure I'll find many uses. Its just a cool tool and I buy tools

A good tool an die maker can change that easy.

I would never use a triggered or capped nozzle. A Home design no guard "Foot control". switch feet when ever . There are times I spend a whole day at mine . I use a hardened nozzle. No trigger More versatile and you can under hand it. My nozzle is in there for at least 15 yrs and maybe more. Everyone uses my blasters I also have a home made pressure pot blaster for outside. It holds 4 bags

On these snap-on cabinets . The filtration and the table that spins that you can rise and lower is what is convenient. We modify everything else on the unit. Triple dust bags with tripple motors are the cats Meow in my book. never cloudy inside no matter what media you are using.

Ya, Sandy jet has the foot controls available as well. The pressure pot sanders use a deadman valve.
 
Yup,tie wrap on trigger and a good foot pedal. Hands get sore enough without having to hold a trigger too.
