Looking for a stock looking radiator for a 383 69 barracuda. I’m assuming new ones cool better and are cheaper and easier to find than originals so looking for good companies. Thanks.

2 votes for Glen-ray. If it has to be correct they are the guys to do it. They can also build you anything you want. I had Bob build a bigger one for my 70 Swinger. It fit and worked perfect.

Numbers I don’t really care about, I know I had also been recommended us radiator as well. As long as it looks stock that’s all that matters.

I took a stock 22" tank and had a three row core put in and it works fine with a shroud and I'm the only one that knows

Didn't the 69 A-body come with two different style 'looking' radiators? Most I have seen have a very rounded, very unique looking 2 piece style top tank. If that's the style you have, then you don't have a lot of options. The recommendations above are what I would have suggested.

My car didn’t have one when I bought it unfortunately. But yes from what I’ve seen the 383 radiators are very round looking on top

I would take your old one to an old rad shop and have it recored. They will put an additional row in it(if you like).
I did that with my 69 340 rad. Be diligent on maintaining/flushing your cooling system. For the amount of miles we put on these relics it SHOULD be good. Provided everything else(fan/shroud t-stat, pulley etc) is in good working order.
The guy who did mine(Dennis) is/was affiliated with Glen Ray someway, somehow. The rads he has done and brass work is/are works of art.

Check out Griffin radiators, Direct-fit, paint it black they will never know the difference.
And they cool great

This is the one I bought from Cold Case and I painted it black. Direct fit and my shroud bolted right to with no modifications.

It's probably a small world of shops that order new cores with the 'header' for the bubble top radiators. Wouldn't be surprising if some of them work together on getting and keeping stock. And as you know there's a lot of cross border automotive business...

Not cheap but try Glen-ray radiators. Glen-ray Radiators - All New Licensed Mopar Chrysler Dodge Plymouth Radiators

You will need to contact them to see if they have the tanks to put one together. If you don’t care about numbers the other option is to put something together using a big block b-body radiator.
Yup! I completely agree. Best thing with them is to call.
They may even be able to put something together using parts from a 22" B -body radiator, or that might even be rarer.

FWIW. '69 Dodge FSM shows 383 A-body used a 22" radiator with a 18" fan with 7 1-1/2" deep blades and .7" spacer.
Bubble top radiators don't look like the square tops at all.

Below is a small block radiator Bob (Glen-Ray) made up using a '68 top.
Notice the position of the tank and the notch on the leading tip of the fan blades.

The Cold Case ones are made of modern materials and are of modern design and look pretty close to original painted black.

Mine was about that and everything came from them.

I have seen some pretty nasty looking radiators go for big money. Cores can be $100 and up. (just for the tanks).. Pay $200 for a core and $600 for repair. Better off having Bob build you one if he has the parts. Mine was a top tank off a 80's Mopar according to the part number. Bob added brackets to the side rails for a shroud which my original radiator didn't have.

I’ll look into that too. Not really seeing any company’s that looks original. But since it is kinda a rare car, wouldn’t mind having an accurate one too I suppose if it can be found and without costing an arm and a leg.

Hey, give Jeff Bobst a call. I bet he has one. Lives in Waverly Iowa and his business is Mopar parts. 319-352-2511
