I took the duster out for a spin the other day and noticed the steel belts are showing on the nitto 555s

Im thinking i dont need drag radials again (i dont think i made it to the track once since i took the old N-50s off) and im just looking for an affordable street tire

Any suggestions on what to get?

For my needs, hot-street without freezing conditions; Nitto 555's are the only way to go. My cars are simply dangerous to drive without the Nitto's on them. Both will smoke a regular street tire and drift sideways on the freeway at speed.

While that is fun, I'd rather hook up hard, and the Nitto's do just that. They also last me for several years per set, and are rated at 186 mph.

i went with these on my express truck.. 275/60-15

Cooper Cobras and Radial T/As are about the only “affordable” street tires still available in wide 15s from my search. The T/As are about 50-75% more for about the same quality in my opinion.

After having the nittos on I can't imagine myself going back to the ice skating ring... Before I put those on it felt like I was driving with butter on my back tires...

I guess they aren't as expensive as I thought they were, about 40 bucks a tire more then they coopers

I just feel like these didn't last me very long

any idea what the difference is between the NIT-180300 and the NIT 180-490?

honestly I didn't know there was two different kinds I would be interested as well to know the difference...
I remember when I did order them from Summit they were $10 each extra for oversized package. But someone else was selling them for the same price with free shipping so I just made them price match. And I got them for a hundred and sixty each to the door...

its 160 for the one, 169 for the other
(my local tire place also quotes 160)

I send nitto an email, asking them what the difference is, so well see

I've never cared for Nitto. They don't seem to last very long.

That is my biggest gripe
If I could find a decent gripping tire that doesnt wear as quickly I'd be happy

I put a new set of Cooper Cobras on Kitty's Escape in May of 2015. They are just now approaching halfway worn. I would "guess" there's probably about 30K on them now. I know people trash talk them, but I like them.

Hercules H/P 4000 are what I am ordering this week. Owned and made by Cooper, better looking tread pattern come with a 2 year road hazard warranty, oh and slightly cheaper than the Cooper's. There is a guy local to me with a built Nova who swears by the Hercules tires.

They are cheaper. Just have to find places that sell them. I'm getting all 4 mounted and balanced for 525 otd, cheapest I found the Cooper's for was for 80-150 more.

I can get Hercules HP4000 local to me in 275/60/15 for 125 a tire.

I think when BFG figured out they were about the last big name left in business, they doubled their prices. I think they are the low tier brand of Michelin now.
