‘67 Barracuda Reverse Bezels Don’t Fit

-
Again I sincerely appreciate all the input.

All 5 bezels have the similar numbers. 32272 with 2606826 underneath. Others have 32273 2606827. Right and left sides perhaps.

Looking at the pic the two on the left have more arc the the 3 on the right. Interesting they have the same part number when there clearly different as far as the arc is concerned.

That said should I shop for early Valiant bezels???
Thanks again Jim

Here ya go. Evilbay valiant reverse lights. Price isnt too bad either. Not sure they are the correct shape for your valance or not.

I hate these back up lights! A lot of money & trouble. When I replaced the valance on my 69 I left them off since the AMD part wasn’t drilled for them. I put an led light strip over the license plate for backup light. Works great since mine is a driver, not a restoration.

The 2 circled appear bent. Possibly the 3rd one in the middle too. The face side of these appears concave. It should be flat. If the face side of these i circled isnt flat, they are probably bent from a car they were on being rear ended and are junk. If they are bent like i think they are, toss em in the scrap bucket they dont have the correct shape anymore. Its just adding to the confusion in your pic.

Probably looks cleaner on that 69 without them. Replacing the valance on my sons 69 as well. Will keep old one for a hole template, but may do the LED deal you did instead. Got a pic?

My high school car was a 68 cuda & it didn’t have them, so when I had the chance to ditch them on my 69 I did it.

I think I bought it on amazon. I will look at my purchases. May have bought it at oreilly, they have a bunch.

I found a set for a 62 vailiat on Ebay this morning. They should be here after the fourth.
Cross your fingers...
Thanks again Jim.

The valance pan is the same for all 3 years. 67 holes are drilled for 67 lights, 68s are undrilled, 69s are drilled for 69 lights, otherwise its the same stamping. Yes the holes drilled are different from 67 to 69. And yes i do know 67 and 69 housings are different. 69s being longer, 67s being shorter, however they have the same curve where they meet the valance.

AJ/formS are you aware that the 62 valiant also had an even shorter reverse light bezel than the 67 barracuda that was even flatter to mate to its rear valance. The lenses and light sockets of which will interchange into 67 and 69 barracuda recerse light housings.

I would know, i own a 67 and a 69. Its only because of the way each of these 2 years valances are drilled differently for their respective housings that housings do not interchange between the 2 years, otherwise they will fit if the valance is drilled correctly for them. As a matter of fact early build 69s used 67 reverse light bezels to use up leftover stock on the assembly lines, later 69s used the 69 specific bezels. The only difference in the valance stamping itself other than hole location is if it has dual exhaust cutouts.

I stick by my first statement. Somewhere early in that cars life it was struck from behind. 67 bezels probably couldent be found, and 62 valiant ones were used. The valance was reworked to accept the shape of the valiant reverse lights. I can go take pix of my kids 69 valance hole cutouts as its an original valance too.

Also how do i know the ones the OP has are for a 67?? Its because i sold the OP the black colored reverse light housings off my own 67 valance shown in blue in post #14, and they fit just fine on there. I wanted new chrome ones, so I bought new 67 repops. Same contour, they fit my valance just fine as well. Mine had not been hit and repaired. Its in its OEM shape. I would trust that its a more correct contour than something that was repaired especially since theres still a big punched in crease where the licence plate goes.

Very informative. So, 67 BU lights will fit my 68 valance, if the holes are placed at the correct contour position? I agree the 69 BUs are a bit too long

I have heard that 69s came with both short and long reverse lights.

the amd replacement valance I bought was for all three years, you have to put your own holes in for 67 & 69

Same valance all 3 years. 67 was drilled a little differently than 69 for the shorter lamp bezels. I have both years. 67 and 69. I can send pix if needed. Early built 69s used 67 lights to use up leftover assembly line parts.

I saw the Scott Drake BU lights... for the cheaper price i'd go repop if he made a Mopar specific

I'm actually considering this and mounting one on a licence plate bracket The other would make a dandy trunk light.

That's slick. Not gonna lie, at this point in time, I like the look of the valance mounted BU lights, or at least I think i do (not the long 69's though). Maybe this goes away after mocking up twice pipe exits @ valance.

I found these for $1.39 a pair plus tax. Approx 6" long and slightly wider than 1/2". Free shipping. Inexpensive enough that I thought about putting then inside my truck bed under the side rails, and in the truck toolbox. They were cheap enough that I bought 6 pairs of em for $9.03 shipped. I figure at that price I can always find a use for em. I guess when I make the plate mount with this part I can post it up on here. I have a nice set of 67 reverse lights with new repop bezels and screws for my 67. If this cob led reverse light thing works out, I may fill the holes in, and sell the lamps.

Good deal! I would be interested in the 67 BU's if you sell em

My 67 is a long term project. Sons comes first. I may make that decision 8 years from now. Please dont wait on me.

My goal is to turn the key on this thing when I'm 60 (i got 4 years) ...could turn into 8 years, who knows lol
