A while back I had posted about a Poly block blowing the oil filter up . I fixed it . While it was here I changed it to dual Master cylinder and all new lines. I did the valve covers and welded the heater hose bracket in the right location. This car had the windows taped and the whole car painted black door handles and all the chrome. The they accented everything with purple and Gold.

The whole motor was purple the carburetor and all. While it was here Dave and I surprised him and painted the motor . removed all parts and sonic cleaned or glass beaded them. He was so excited he took it everywhere and showed his friends. I even put a 318 sticker on the air cleaner.

He came back and said it never ran like it does. He thinks I am a miracle man.

All I did ? When I took it apart I noticed he was only getting half throttle. So I fixed the and adjusted the cable and throttle pressure

While he was here yesterday he saw the chrome alternator from the 440 I bought last week. He was amazed and kept looking at it. So I sold it to him for $30 dollars installed with a chrome regulator.

Tomorrow I'll get some pictures of this car . I am going to rewire it for the dual field alternator and glass bead and paint more parts that he don't know of . What ever I remove I'll make look like new for this guy.

He has a french fry stand at the local fairs and has been giving me free passes for the kids for all the rides and all the food stands. Free debit cards for the games for the whole day.

I think I am going to remove the grille take off the black paint and polish it. The car did not come with rear view mirror on the door. I am going to put a nice chrome dart mirror on.

I'll take some pictures Tommorrow when I get back .

I won't charge him I love helping old Friends like this. He loves this car and is proud of it even though others are always razzing him. Wait until they see it when we're done. They all call it the Bat Mobile .

........................................

That's cool
All that work for a bag of French fries.
Where I work management buys us pizza each quarter we go without an injury.
You'd never believe how safe we are.... and how chubby too.

So cool!
My buddy has a 71 impala convertible. He bought it as a project to occupy himself after his wife passed away.
He had a few oil leaks and asked me to repair them.

i took off all the offending parts, cleaned and painted and installed them, any bit of chrome i had ,air cleaner valve cover studs breathers and oil filler.
Returned from his trip opened his hood and was blown away.
Week later,we pulled engine, sent it out for a rebuild and a spicing up with all the goodies.

i created a monster. Then he did a couple more after that, 79 ranchero and 62 saratoga.

i really like throwing in suprises when i get the oppurtunity.

I pulled it in tonight for tomorrows repairs. He won't be her for it until Tuesday. Chrome alternator and outside mirror. But I am going to strip the paint off of the grille and polish it. I want to have the tail lights re-chromed. I am looking for a set to have done and then swap them out when he brings it back again. I told a guy that if he loans me a set to paint and put in until these come back so this guy don't notice I'll have his chromed also. I'll just send them up with bike parts to Bill's Bike Barn. He won't charge me to throw them in with a frame and motor parts for a chopper he is helping my son with. The Bike will probably end up parked at his museum anyway.

Started a coal fire. It was so hot in here I had to open all the doors. But it takes all of the humidity out of the shop.

I took the relay off of the firewall cleaned an cleared them. I also found an adapter to mount the newer regulator wher the old style was without drilling hole. The alternator is back on. Tomorrow I'll reinstall the parts on the firewall . The alternator doesn't look bad. he'll like it.

Thanks for posting the progress pictures. That looks way better. Amazing how the small things make such a big difference.

Before and after of the firewall. The bracket used made it easy. The wires were just connect the two existing wires from the old regulator to the center blue wire on the electronic regulator and run the green wire to the other field prong on the alternator.

So the short pig tail off the new regulator and one wire to the alternator. Works perfect and now charges at idle. No fluctuation on the gauge at all. Lights stay bright at idle.

The conversion bracket pictured above made it fit without drilling any new holes

It is great to help people that appreciate it and deserve it.

I just finished paint on the 62 Dart more door I hauled home a few months ago. Funny how I wanted a more door early B body, and all these decades I would never have thought twice about such. I am also hoping my trade for a running poly 318 happens in a few weeks.

Bet that oal stove will run you out of there!
