CHOOSING THE RIGHT TORQUE CONVERTER

To be honest, unless you're building a track only car where you need to run on an index, any out of the box 3500 stall from a brand name company is going to get you what you need.

Talked to a guy at Precision of New Hampton
Gave him the specs and he said $289 and $100 core and can ship it in 2 days when i'm ready.
Part # 5302SSAX. sounds real good to me but will check a little more.

Sounds pretty much what Fisher said in the beginning of the thread...
The guy is quoting you an off the self basic converter which based on how you say you're going to use the car is probably all you do need. Hell, you could probably just keep the stock one and be ok..
But... you did spend big bucks for a VERY nice engine and why not get the best performance out of it? I tried two off the self converters from name brand companies then went with the FTI and there is no comparison. Made it a completely different car with a custom converter.
