What they are teaching in college nowadays

-
By saving I mean we need to crack down on this liberal crap and start living right again.:)
Yes it is Liberal but may not be crap. Certainly not trying to start anything here but it not politics. Think out of the box man. I shared everything with two sisters, Hell the same today with my wife. I have to wade through the she stuff to find the he stuff. Whats the big deal? If she felt that strong about it she would of told them to pound sand and remove the labels themselves instead of crying to Dad. Labeling is part of the problem.

Dont you go to the store and shop in designated mens, women's, boys and girls sections? Certainly you can go to whatever section you choose. Are the stores labeling people by having signage stating these are the gender styles?

Good point. I am new to this defending my gay niece. It aint easy. Testing it here cause I know you guys will be easy on me and will be informative.

That's absolutely not something that is done in every college across the country.
It's something that may be done is some certain classes.
But if your son just started college, he's still dealing with gen-ed classes. Those are usually taught by either liberal arts majors or part time adjuncts.
While I'm not in any of your sons classes, if I were to guess, this is likely coming from the psych class.
You may not understand, but it's to teach him that there are people who think this way. Its not designed to teach him to think that way.
He will likely, if he hasn't already, also look at many thought processes. Help him develop a critical thinking process.

I always thought this race thing would go away as soon as we stopped focusing on it, but we seem to be worried about it more and more-counterproductive if you ask me.

Yeah , this all started getting worse under obummass !

I have ZERO issues with a person's sexual choice and or preference. Who am I to condemn them. My "issue" is with some people allowing young kids(Jazz) to decide they want to chang their gender. Christ theyll change "trends" 3 times a day, and some see it as a popular trend.
Kudos to you and your niece. No need to defend here, not to me anyway.

If someone wants to choose another gender it's their prerogative and that's fine with me, but they should leave everyone else alone and not make the rest go unisex, let boys be boys and girls be girls like its always been, if a girl wants to be a boy shouldn't she be able to pick out boy's clothes?

So my son started college recently to become a teacher. So he is taking the basic requirements to get to the point he can do the advanced classes. He has been telling us and showing us the videos they make them watch and answer questions to. One video was a gal who obviously has had bad relationships in her life and the video was all about how the term "falling in love" was not p.c because the word "falling" denotes a term that means you were not given a choice to fall in love, because falling is not a self chosen action. That it should be "stepping into love". Then he brought home today a "white privilege checklist" today. All of the class has to fill it out. Now I am not even going to get into a race discussion here, just curious if this is a liberal Oregon thing, or nationwide thing? And at what point does race color privilege need to be taught as a college course? The teachers push gender, race, relationship opinions over anything else. I would think it would be more appropriate to teach curriculum related to the course topic. He is taking basic psychology, math, and English. I am seriously wondering wtf? The teachers have also voiced their sexual preferences. As one said he is thinking about trying guys, and the gal teacher said she is pansexual....I am really worried about America as a whole. I can understand this being part of the curriculum in a psych class under the circumstances.
The gender awareness thing has gotten to be pretty big, especially in the last decade or so and people that shape minds need to at least have an understanding about it.
I agree that the whole subject has gotten way out of hand, but what are our options?
It can't be ignored or denied, so it's prevalence in society has to be taught to insure awareness. (especially in a psychology class)

Personally I think it's a shame it has gotten to the point of old straight white males trying to decide what rights a gay should have over a trans and so on.
Human rights are human rights and there shouldn't be any qualifying.

Also, I'd bet you 100 bucks that most of these old white males in our society and government making some of these decisions and laws affecting these people's human rights would be cowering in a foxhole while a gay or trans defended them on the battlefield.

This got derailed already and went from WTF is going on in college to a gender studies argument.

When I went to college, things were still not bad, that was in the 90's. people were getting ready to save the world from Y2K and just focusing on the work at hand. Little did I know the institutionalized liberals from the early 70's were finally getting the foothold they wanted. I say institutionalized liberals because they are the ones who never left the universities. They were the weak minded ones who liked the ease at which they could make changes and have power in a meeting filled with a captive audience instead of going out into the world and just being good people (yes, some liberals are good decent people who don't want our rights taken away, and in fact would like more protected, and I'm about as conservative as you can get). They worked their ways into positions of decision making roles while the rest of us lived out lives and did our thing.

What we have now is the result of complacency by conservatives, and a bunch of narcissists in positions of power who don't care about anything then using everything at there disposal to make their own feelings seem justified. If they actually cared about "people" in general, they'd not just be our for one side of the aisle.

We used to support going to college. Not anymore. We sat and watched my eldest son's high school completely ignore trade schools etc, adopt a policy in which students could turn in work late and still get credit etc. All to help pump up numbers and get money from universities they were a feeder to.

The community college visit we had, was enlightening since one of the presenters was from the 4 year system and bashing the high schools for doing this. Turns out, they LOVE community college transfers because they are statistically more successful students and make the 4 year places look good.

We as parents, have been bombarded with the idea that if you don't have a "degree", you're not work the ground you walk on. I never believed that, but it's what they push. The high school NEVER mentioned trades or military as options, EVER. Heck, even the trade schools have started calling there programs "degrees"... it all sickens me....

When they introduce themselves as "Bobbi, 'she, her, hers'", I just reply with "John, 'King, your majesty, your highness'", and they shut right the hell up. If they want to play stupid games, it's on them.

While the BS terrifies me, the pendulum will only swing so far before they realize that being progressive for the sake of being progressive is terrible. Honestly, this is all just a function of times being so good for the last twenty years or so that people can act this way. When tough times hit, it'll weed a lot of this crap out when people get their priorities re-aligned and other people won't have the patience or resources to 'tolerate' this garbage.

You want to talk to me about inclusion? If you can define it without using exclusion, there's a place at my table for you. If not, you're just another hypocrite. Racism isn't illegal, nor is hate-speech, and I'll accept anyone that chooses those paths too, as long as they don't practice discrimination. But when you discriminate in the name of anti-discrimination......you are a hypocrite.

Now's the time to start following the number of gender-transition-reversal surgeries, too.

I'm a mechanical engineer. I am in the job market. I just love sorting through all the 'sanitation engineer' (Janitor), 'maintenance engineer' (building maintenance), and 'drawing engineer' (draftsman) positions that these dipsticks think is acceptable to re-name. I'm OK with the fact that I don't have kids, when I encounter this.

Yup, I totally agree... In many instances it's about companies being able to "bill" more because of a fancy title. I'm a System Administrator. I have hated the title since the 90's when Mickeysoft decided the office secretary could be called a sys-admin... Sorry chuckles, but that's not how it works, that's not how any of this works....

You forgot ...

Custodial Engineer
Network Engineer
Domestic Engineer....

What a lot of people who sling these titles around don't understand is there are often times, legal connotations to the term "Engineer" and most of them don't what the responsibility of it when it comes to brass tacks.

sigh...

Agree withposts #18 &20 . Todays institutions are teaching that whites should be guilty for being white . Men should be guilty for being men and God is a dirty word . these institutions preach that America is an aweful place and should be torn down and replaced with socialism but fully admit that socialism doesn't work . Preaching that the world has no borders and we don't need to be protected from evil do'ers . We have the most wonderful country that has ever existed . We are the safest , richest , least racist , freeist nation that has ever existed . Are we flawed , yes , should we work to correct those flaws , yes . Stay the course , be of good courage and love God and country .

My daughter works with children that are needy and folks donate clothes for them, this is a state job and she decided to organize the clothes, she labeled drawers with boy's underwear and girls dresses and such. Well she got in trouble and was disciplined for doing it, she said now she was told kids clothes are unisex and they get to decide for themselves what they want to wear, and they made her remove all the labels. She called me crying and said she was trying to do good, I assured her she did and not to let it get to her, that the country is going to hell in a basket if we don't start trying to save it.
It's happening everywhere and it's discusting . A child does not have the mental capacity to make decisions of gender , their brains haven't developed enough . This is an undisputed fact . I am glad it's over for me (I'm 73 years old ) I feel bad for my kids whose children are in school and being taught this crap but are unable to write a simple declarative sentence by hand .

That really is the truth, kids should be let to just be kids. Without any concerns about whether or not they will or need to identify with any gender. The same thing goes for racial equality, why should we be guilting our kids into thinking they are privileged because they are white? Or less because they are not. To me this teaches people to have a division of feelings for other races, religions or genders. Rather than the real need, to understand no matter how you identify, worship, skin color at the root your still human and going to college to better your future. And I think it might be his psych class, but let's be honest. No matter how your mind rationalizes how you feel, your either a male or female at the end of the day. As they have already pushed gender identification in his English class. I think he's (my son) probably not teacher material as he is never going to want to wrap his head around unisex bathrooms, feeling shamed for being a white male in America or anywhere else. Do I think it's a choice? Sure, if you're a white male that is ashamed of being that, or confused as to why you were born this way. Then you can squat to pee and pray to whatever god you choose to make you different than you were born. But you dont have to shove down the throats of others that they have to understand or accept this. This is the problem, being forced to accept everyone elses opinions and be ashamed of your own.

Got a 2 year Associates Degree in Advanced Electronics in 1979. It's taken me WAY further than I ever imagined. I have gotten every job I've ever applied for and I haven't been unemployed since. Of course I've always adhered to the advice my instructor gave us. " If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance then baffle them with your bullsh#t. By the time they realize you don't know anything you know too much to be fired" LOL

Here is an occupation for you "Evolutionary Engineer". If you have Netflix, see "Unnatural Selection" Season 1, Episode 1 "Cut, Paste, Life." (minute six)

Fortunate here. A bright son wrapping his last year at Texas A&M in mechanical engineering and has accepted a job in O&G (my now retired career) for $500 shy of six figures with an 8 grand signing bonus. His fiancee will graduate with a Masters in economics completed in 3 1/2 years there and has accepted a $70K job. With bonuses they will likely be $200k/yr straight out of university. It is nice to know that, at least financially, I have no worries for them.

My Daughter and son in law together are in the 200K area. It is so rewarding to me as a father to see them doing so well. My daughter is also about a year from completing her Doctorate degree.

My sister-in- law has a doctorate in education and she is educated well above her intelligence . Can't boil water , drive or wear matching garments . Can't do banking or carry on a reasonable conservation . She's just wired that way . Sad !
Teaching is a thankless job and to handcuff them with politically correct agendas is cheating our future leaders of using logic to solve issues . I believe teachers should TEACH 3R's and not liberal agendas . Thank you !

I showed this to my shrink yesterday...he just shook his head. Don't remember what he said his daughter was majoring in...but she is just about had enough with the "curriculum".

I am semi-retired but still work at a major university. What I see around me is herd mentality, correctness ad nauseum, trend following, and non-reliance on yourself. Count on .gov and .com to handle your life. Men, especially anglo, are evil and are responsible for all our problems. Personal firearms need to go away. The POTUS is the enemy. Criminals are a victim of environment and need to be understood, not punished.

And like always, the pendulum swings from one extreme to the other.

But, also like always, truth lies in between.

The World as it is today won’t be the same as it it is tomorrow. Learning to think and adapt is the best you can ever get from higher education. The specific thoughts and conclusions are irrelevant...solid logical thought processes are the only goal.

Get those right, and you are set for what the World will throw at you for the rest of your life.
