I have a 340/727 combo still hanging on my hoist, need to get it out of the way and be able to move it. A post by @moparmat2000 got me on the road to this, thanks Matt!
Still need to get the trans end 2x4 screwed in. Called it quits as I've had a few beers, and that skillsaw is kinda bitey, loves to chew up fingers.

hmmmmm......I think I would have rotated the fixture 90* on the dolly. That way, you likely wouldn't need the transmission end 2x4 or wheel.

Thought about that. But this way, I just cut the 2x2's, screw on a 2x4 and two wheels, and I'm good to go if I want separate engine and trans dollies.

I don't count that anymore, lol. if I'd guess it's somewhere between 6 and 12. It's Keystone light though, which really doesn't count as beer, lol.

You can say that again. rotgut.

The best engine dolly is on the k frame, in the engine compartment, under a hood.....preferably with the car turn key:poke:

Just kidding with all that.

Now you have me thinking, I might have to build something similar.

Where is the post by @moparmat2000 that got you thinking??

I modified an old engine stand with some square tubing. It was designed to have the engine and trans mounted on the K-member so they could be rolled underneath the car and installed.

Not sure how to link the thread but it's in shop and tools section.

Yes the T shaped dollies are great for engine, trans and suspension all in one, and I am in the process of building one of those. However this is for storing just a complete engine from oil pan to carb seperate of all that. More compact storage. Need a complete V6 or V8 stored under your workbench, this is your dolly. When I rid the V6 from this dolly, I will probably lengthen it as I think I made it a bit too short for a V8. Compact enough to pitch behind my shop when not in use once I paint it to prevent rust.

Formally known as weak horse piss .
Weak horse piss prolly has more flavor (personally, I wouldn't know). But, at $13 for a 30 pack, it works. I save the Spotted Cow for having a good time with others.. kinda like eating ramen noodles all week so you can have a nice steak on Sunday afternoon :)

I really like yours! I want to build some of those, but i had everything laying around here to make this. Like you said in your thread, it'd be a nice project for learning welding skills, which I definitely need :) Looking at yours, you could do some add on things to use it for other stuff when you don't have an engine on it. You could make a bolt on steel plate for the top to use it for a dolly for other things, or make a seat for on top and a shelf below for tools, and use it for brake jobs or whatever.

It ain't pretty, but it works. Bonus is I used up a bunch of these old casters I have.. still have 3 or 4 more 5 gallon pails full. My wife's grandpa passed away a few years ago, and he had 3 50 gal. drums full of these. Nobody else wanted them when we were getting his estate ready for auction, so I filled up as many 5 gallon pails as I could.. my poor Caravan had a tough time that day. Thanks Bill! He's got a smile on his face somewhere knowing I'm putting some of his stuff to good use. :)

That's bad ***. I like the extension for the transmission. Castor's are handy as heck. I woulda taken as many as I could have too. That's a total score.

When we were there going through Bill's stuff, I saw those casters, and started going through them.. some were obviously junk. The wife asked me 'what do you want with that junk?' I told her I was going to make dollies so we could move the Cuda around.. you could actually get behind it! She spent the next 2 hours going through casters with me, lol

Ron that turned out really good. You can use that for a run stand.
