Hey Keith...I wanted to tell you that your comments on tightening lug nuts the other night was so right on. That was funny when you posted the picture of the tire iron.
Even working as a mechanic for years... I normally don't use a torque wrench unless critical dimensions can be affected. I used them for assembling my motor and trans. K-frame bolts were actually above what mine would do. I maxed it out and gave them another good nudge with my 1/2' breaker bar. For general assembly, you get a feel for what is right. Even at work on printing presses, very limited use. Of course that means finding fasteners that someone else tightened WAY to much and some ready to fall out...
But yeh. The tire iron is probably the only tool my dad ever used to change a tire. I do get it though with 'modern' alloy wheels. Not saying I get them 'right', but the average person who doesn't wrench much could be way off high or low. After I have a car in for service I usually give them another nudge a day or so later. Seems about 50/50 whether they move or not. Right or not, I think I am pretty consistent. So what did they use?

Part of the activities at the circle track last night. Both of those monstrosities belong to the track owner.
They also filmed a "Mini Bike" race for something called Twin Turbos on Discovery Channel. I took advantage of those activities and consumed adult beverages with racer friends and talking hot rods.

In shop. Heat is on. not too interested in working today.
