Running Fitech, and I would like to try and quiet down the IAC.

Anyone have a suggestion for the quietest air cleaner?

Air cleaners are sorta like mufflers. The bigger they are the quieter they usually are. I know that's about useless as tits on a boarhog, but it's all I got.

Single snorkel air cleaner with a cold air duct to the radiator support. Thay should muffle the IAC.

I haven't tuned a FiTech yet, but if it's like a Sniper or a FAST try opening the butterflies to let more air in so the IAC is only being used to fine tune idle, not the primary idle air source.

What exactly does the IAC sound like? Is it hissing or vibrating (Duty cycle)?

A factory air cleaner is the quietest out there bar none. I’d look for a 440 dual snorkel with the suggested air ducting. Next would be the trap door air cleaner.

Try cleaning/bevel up the inlet edge for the IAC on the Throttle body, that might take some of the noise out

Honestly it runs so well, I’m not touching **** on the thing!
It’s a first run 30002 still using a first run FCC. I don’t want to break the magic!

Get one of those boxes off of a newer car or truck intake, It's just a muffler for the intake and they flow a lot of air

I did a gen 3 hemi in a 70 Challenger and the IAC would scream at a idle and coming down to a idle. The problem was the IAC was almost closed so I closed the throttle plate so the IAC had to open and the noise stopped. You could still hear it but it was livable. And no more screaming and whistling.

We've run into the opposite (including a Gen 3 swap) but the idea is the same, get some balance between the butterflies and IAC to get the IAC to quiet down. The Gen 3 we did is only loud at cold start now and the car's owner is fine with that.

Joe on the Snipers it happens as well and it’s been suggested to run 4 hole spacer. Cheers

Is there any way to try to get rid of the IAC noise by grinding or polishing out the port? There may just be a machining misalignment or threads that’s causing the whistle. I know I have a 90* turn in my IAC.

It’s not really a whistle, you can just hear it drawing air

I'm with whoever suggested opening the butterflies a little more. I can still remember the old AFV that had the big air valve screw in the middle. Had a Mopar one on a Chev back in the day. That thing REALLY hissed

My experience is the more closed the IAC is the louder the noise, the further open the less noise, so you need to close the throttle to get it to open. It may need to relearn the idle setting after a reset the plate is performed.
