How Are You (We) Conserving Fuel & Energy?
What made me think of this was something I just noticed at the Mom & Pop store across the street. The Pepsi salesperson/order guy was not driving a little car but a small motorcycle. I guess they could save even more taking orders over the phone or the internet, but it is an economical move, nonetheless (photo not actual motorbike that I saw).
Personally, I feel pretty good after having held out long times this summer before turning on the house A/C. And when I received a call that one of my five little projects I had to farm out in town was ready for pickup, I decided to wait until the other four local shops completed my other fabrications before I go driving the 20 mile round trip to bring it all home.
Then with respect to one of my few vices (half liter of soda daily/sometimes beer) I am purchasing the returnable/deposit glass bottles. I have almost completely eliminated purchasing drinks in the plastic bottles after finding that the recycler pays nothing for them here (no mandatory plastic drink deposit in this country-reimbursement factored by weight).
