What made me think of this was something I just noticed at the Mom & Pop store across the street. The Pepsi salesperson/order guy was not driving a little car but a small motorcycle. I guess they could save even more taking orders over the phone or the internet, but it is an economical move, nonetheless (photo not actual motorbike that I saw).

Personally, I feel pretty good after having held out long times this summer before turning on the house A/C. And when I received a call that one of my five little projects I had to farm out in town was ready for pickup, I decided to wait until the other four local shops completed my other fabrications before I go driving the 20 mile round trip to bring it all home.

Then with respect to one of my few vices (half liter of soda daily/sometimes beer) I am purchasing the returnable/deposit glass bottles. I have almost completely eliminated purchasing drinks in the plastic bottles after finding that the recycler pays nothing for them here (no mandatory plastic drink deposit in this country-reimbursement factored by weight).

Honestly...I'm not doing a darn thing

Since we moved back to town, fuel economy hasn't even been on the list of things we ask about when looking at a car (and both econoboxes have since been replaced)

Except maybe replacing light bulbs with LEDs as they burn out, but that is for the sake of money preservation

Except for the porch lights, those I preemptively replaced, but that's only so I can keep them on all night

Not doing a damn thing AC was on in the house all summer we drive where ever and when ever we want not letting anything change my/our lifestyle..this is AMERICA right??..

Conserve energy? You crazy? This is 'Murica.

I stopped buying beer in the can or bottle and went to a kegerator. Exchange a keg every 6 weeks or so from a local brewery 2 miles away. This has saved many dolphins and sea turtles. At least that is what I tell my hippy sister in law.

You beat me to it man, that's exactly what I was going to say. Also I usually have a cat on my lap to keep me warm.
Oh, I have the cat on the armrest crowding my arm, and trying to sleep with her face on the numbers pad of the laptop. Cindy says she is going to mail the cat to Rusty Rat Rod if she doesn't stop whining. She conserves more energy than I do. But I just got a hip replacement. That's my excuse.

I drive faster to get there sooner so I am putting less carbon in the air. 4.10 gears help you get out of the way quicker too. Since the tires are black and the road is black, I am helping the roads look prettier too.

We use a lot of LED lighting inside and out. (some dimable, some not)
On the front and back we replaced the single porch light bulb with LED ropes that span the entire length of the house.
They are strung up under the eves, so no one actually sees a light directly, but it illuminates the entire length of the house and drive part way out to the street.
One of my pet peeves is someone's obnoxious bright *** outside light shining in my face or into our yard.

For awhile every time I went out in my back yard by the gate the neighbors motion sensor lights would come on.
I finally got him to change the damn thing so it doesn't do that any more.
Just told him I didn't like his lights coming on and shining in our yard when we sit outside, and since this is against the civil laws on residential lighting if he didn't do something about it I was going to call the city and have them make him do it.

When I see the demoturds jetting all over the world to bla bla bla about something, and their jet uses more fuel than all my cars I ever owned or every will own.......and their houses use more juice or gas in a week than mine does in a year...........it's PRETTY DAMN HARD to get excited about turning down the stat and putting on a jacket, or curtailing that trip downtown in the pickup.

We recycle the city picks it up every couple weeks.
I bought a more economical truck, but that was kinda a wash, because I put more miles on it, because it uses less fuel. So I will make more trips, instead of planning them like I used to.

My home ofc now has LEDs in the track lighting. The others in the basement will be replaced with LEDs when they burn out. So I guess that's just about it. The Jeep we bought to replace our Mazda 3 certainly isn't conserving much, but I can live with that because we're a lot more comfortable and my back isn't hurting anymore.

Tell ya what, when the climate shills stop buying oceanfront mansions and jetting to Geneva then maybe I will consider it. Operative word being maybe. Not buying the "man made" climate change thing. Where I am currently sitting was under the ice 20 thousand years ago. So climate does change. Nothing WE can do about it either.

Instead of my weekly visit to Casey's General Store to buy 12 cans of liquid enjoyment, I go bi-weekly to purchase a 30 pack.

Started doing the tier rate plan and do heavy load stuff during off-peak and super off peak hours. Like running the pool pump after midnight. Saves a little but electricity is still expensive out here no matter what.

I walk to Wal-Mart. I don’t buy more than I can carry. I have led lighting and plan on installing them in the garage:

almost forgot
I got back from a 5 day trip to new orleans yesterday and when I came into the house, it was a little chilly

rightfully so, since I normally keep the house at 71 and before I left I had cranked the thermostat down to 66
(but again, only for moneys sake)

Most towns in Pennsylvania have mandatory recycling.
I take oil and filter to work to recycle. Any scrap metal goes to work to scrap. Bag leaves and grass clippings. Drive my Caliber and park the truck.

I'm sure there's enough liberals eatin their own placentas with a double dose of kale to make up for me.
