A500/518 aactivation speed of overdrive unit ?

At what speed does the overdrive unit engage in stock form ? If you don't drive much over 60mph, would you benefit much installing a OD trans? I know it also depends on rear gears/tire DIA ,how many miles you drive, and other factors.

I have noticed it about 46-48 mph. It goes into OD then if it's light throttle the converter clutch will lock up. I would think it would be a lot of work for little gain if you don't drive above 60 that much.
 
On our 93 Dakota, OD comes in about 35 lockup about 55
