anyone currently using a Kobalt 1/2" impact cordless.Im thinking of trying one out. It is half the price of the others. Im basically using it for lugnuts and the occasional tough nut. Only thing I know so far is it seems heavy but I dont do a lot of repetitive stuff. If anyone can recommend another better alternative, but cost is an issue.

Thanls

I just picked up the m18 mid torque kit for 230 for similar task, the specs of that kobalt seem about the same so should be good

Look at the Rigid line love it guaranteed for life and so are the batteries!

I just got the Kobalt 24v brushless impact and drill/driver combo. I use hand tools for 99% of working on my car including lug studs, but the Kobalt has been great so far. It has a longer warranty and lithium iom batteries are like 20 bucks.

This is the exact kit and I use it all the time for various projects.

i have the 1/2 impact. love it. as you said, heavier than most. i bought an extra battery because my son was using it most of the time and battery was always almost dead when i wanted to use it. i'm going to change locks on garage and disable garage door openers. worth the money i think.

I was looking at the 1/2" impact myself. $99.00 plus the battery....hard to beat.

My issue is I have Milwaukee stuff now...not sure I want to change brands.

I was using dewalt 18V for years after two sets of batteries it was time for a third. Buddy recommended the Rigid, got a driver and impact gun at HD holiday time with two batteries for 299. And they threw in a extra tool of choice so I got the impact and a battery for it included.. Register it online and even the batteries get replaced for any reason no questions asked. SIL messed up the chuck on the drill and contacted them they just sent me a new drill. I love them so far.

I bought the Kobalt 1/2" impact. They dropped the price to $179 with battery. And they give me the military discount at Lowe's. I'll try it tomorrow. 30 day return for any reason and good warranty.

Even the little Dewalt 1/4 impacts are awesome, take about any fasterner off a motor 'cept the head bolts. 125 ft/lb of torque! Milwaukee has a 1" drive monster that will remove a big rig lug nut. Now will it remove a Vanagon axle nut @360 ft/lbs? Sure....

MEDIUM/HEAVY TRUCK, TRAILER AND BUS
10-Hole pattern, 15/16-12 thread- HD Stud-Piloted____ 750 - 900 ft/lbs.....!!!
