So I'm in the process of digging into the front suspension of my 67' Valiant to do a 73'+ disc swap. With 67' I know the steering uses a different idler arm, so I wanted to double check before I mistakenly order rebuild parts for a wrong year.

I'll be ordering these items:
Front inner and outer wheel bearings
Wheel bearing seals
Spindle nut kit
Rotors
Pads
Camber bolt kit
Calvert 90/10s (already purchased)
73'+ QA1 Upper control arms/balljoints (already purchased)
LCA Bushings
Greasable Pivot Pin
Lower balljoints

Can I order all 73' parts for this rebuild, without making other changes?
(I'm pretty confident on it besides the 73'+ LCA's being a direct swap onto a 67'? I don't have a swaybar which I believe would be the only possible issue)

I'd really like to run the 73 LCA as I could completely rebuild them without tearing apart my car.

Thanks in advance!

You are on your way. But...I am pretty sure if you are needing a new idler, a new pitman arm is required too...this is where it gets tricky.

The idler mounted to the K frame differently after 1968. Idler arms 68-72 are different to 73-76. You will need a cut from a 73up K frame to weld on (tricky) or a spool mount 73up K frame or a QA1 K frame. You will also need a 73up centerlink. Good luck finding THAT.

Happy to be corrected by the knowledge bank. Above is what I had to do for my 67 Dart Wilwood conversion. Oh, and I am in Australia. Freight and sourcing were challenges.

So I may not have been clear, I'm looking to keep the steering stuff I have for right now if possible, car only has 18k miles, but kinda doing a proactive "while I'm in there refresh". Would love to do the entire steering too but I'm a broke college kid so that'll have to wait until I graduate.

Just trying to confirm that a 73+ lower control arm fits a 67 valiant since I know 67 used a bunch of random 1yr only parts.

I would use the factory pivot bolts. There were some breakage issues with the greaseable ones unless they corrected that problem, you don't need the spindle nut kit unless your missing them. The Rotors,Pads and Camber bolt kit can be had from local parts stores. Yes the lower arms are the same but the 73-up ball joint uses longer bolts. The only thing 67 only is the k frame, pitman and idler arm.

Thanks a ton! Any idea of the brand known for breaking? I've seen a few options, I'd like to do it because I know poly bushings need to be greased often, but I'll have to look into it some more with that information in mind... Those are the parts I thought, but needed to hear it from someone else for peace of mind!

You know my number lol. I forget who made them but there were a few threads going around about them.

Check the idler and pitman. They may be fine. I have a few '67 idlers of unknown mileage. NONE if them feel loose...

I'm not sure you have the choice.

You'll need the UCA larger ball joint too, and lower ball joint is different too, which links to the centerlink...etc.

Ask me how I know.
