Peugeot? Yikes....

thats because when an american (or what some want to pretend is an american) car company sells a compact car they just can't compete with jap cars. they just don't sell. seems that the big three have pretty much given up in that market and left it to the jap cars..

The mid-size and smaller car markets are extremely competitive and are where the Japanese and Europeans put most of their resources developing their cars, since in Europe and Asia cars are smaller on average. The profit margins are also slim; a company has to sell a lot more small economy cars to make money compared to bigger cars with more "stuff". For a company like FCA that gets most of its sales from trucks and big cars there isn't much sense dumping a bunch of money trying to develop a competitive small car; this is where Peugeot would potentially come in, they already have the resources and know-how for making small stuff.

What gets me is how most Americans don't put much thought into the vehicle they drive daily to get around; seriously, people in this country need to stop buying so many damn pickup trucks. How can someone not feel like a selfish dick commuting to work by themselves in a 6-7000 lb truck that gets 15 MPG or worse and probably cost $50k new, and they don't tow or haul anything more than a couple times a year, if that? I don't get it. Even if someone doesn't care about the environment it's extremely wasteful.
