doubt americans will buy a small car with the dodge/chrysler name on it.. they have no faith in them... they (myself included) will stick with honda and toyota for those cars..

Me too, Dodge/Chrysler would really have to come out with something revolutionary to even stand a chance. I decided once I need a (relatively) modern driver I'll get a third-gen (late-2000s) Acura TL. I did struts and oil change on a 2001 Acura 3.2TL with 160k miles, thing drove like it was brand new and the interior fit and finish was excellent. Not to mention it hauled *** with that V6 and 5-speed auto, it even bang-shifted at WOT. Guy who owns the car asked me if something was wrong and why it did that, I said "Nope! It does that so it goes faster!" lol
