Okay guys, looking for the best slant six minds here. I own two 74 Dusters, both with the slant six motor. On the oil filler caps on the valve covers, there are two letters stamped on the left and right ears of the caps. The left ear has an "F" stamped on it, and the right ear has an "E" stamped on it. Almost like it was referring to "full" or "empty". What do these letters mean? Any ideas? It's not referred to anywhere in the owner's manual or the shop manual.

I think it's supposed to say 710 on it, not F E

Its a slant six, you turn it to go "Fast" and "Even faster"!

My slant six has the FE as well, I've wondered about it for years but never bothered to ask.

Those markings don't mean anything -- they're most probably tool, line, or plant/source identifiers for use in parts tracking and quality control during manufacture and supply.

Didn't mean ta stir Ya up or nuffin' Mr. Dan, I already met Ya once and ya gotta be at least 5 foot ! :)

My grandma Zelda was barely 5 feet tall. She drove giant cars—a '71 Cattlehack, an '87 Stinkoln Clown Car, then a '95 Cattlehack. She peered through the crescent formed by the steering wheel and the dashboard. Bystanders saw a little whisp of grey hair in the driver's seat. Somehow she managed not to bang up her (or anyone else's) cars; god knows she couldn't see a thing.

Her husband, my grandpa David, was average height, 5'9" or so, and drove a '72 Dart. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those indicate the vendor that supplied the part.

This is required for all OEM parts so that if there's a problem, it's a short Guilty Bastard Checklist.

Edit, no, I don't know the vendor, but can be internal code. For example, FE could be Federal Mogul, model "E", or it could just be FE means 'Stant' or 'TRW'.

John Martin - thanks for your reply. What's the source of this information about the Fuller Emerson company? Just curious.

It was in an issue of Mopar Collectors Guide or Mopar Action. They were talking about a restored car. IIRC it was an article about the stolen mod-top 70 Hemi Cuda.

FE is Fuller-Emerson the company that manufactured the oil filler caps for Chrysler.
I call BS lies! Then why does every search engine come up empty on the name? Even if they are a defunct company , there'd still be internet info on them!

You just might want to say you are wrong. And just forget about learning to spell. Reproductions are made by Stant now to the best of my knowledge.

Then you explain since you’re CLEARLY superior! I don’t see you coming up with anything. Try not to come across as a jerk-off. I’m not against someone disagreeing with me, but the way you wrote it says a lot more about you than you could ever tell me.

For real, I'm 100% all for calling out B.S., but in doing so You'd better have experience(1st hand) or evidence to the contrary. This sort of knee-jerk "I didn't find it on google" response is what I'm getting sick of, plus a lot of folks don't try to learn anything anymore,......just consult St. Google for the answer.(Daddy Fix!!). By all means 69a100, if You know the answer please share it, if You have evidence that Co. doesn't exist, or did not manufacture those caps likewise. Rabbits up bums after just a google search ain't makin' it.
