UPS has a flat rate now, "UPS simple rate", A little less structured than USPS flat rate. they have 4 sizes determined by the box volume. If your box is under 1720 in^3, and under 50#, your good to go for "extra large", $23 in CONUS. I just shipped a pair of 273 manifolds from CA to PA for $23! Now you might be able to ship bare iron heads for <$50 a pair in 2 boxes if you can get them under 50 lbs each, IIRC B/RB heads are lighter than LA heads.

USPS changed their pricing structure in January, and as I found out last week, it can be terrible. They wouldn't let me ship a package Ground in the same region, it had to be Priority. It was $42 for a 7lb package, based on size.

UPS was the cheapest at $28.57, and it got there quickly as promised. I sent a package USPS ground to New York the day before, and they claim it will be there today, two days later than originally stated.

I'll have to check into UPS, USPS charged $49.60 to ship a 2lb flat rate box from Texas to Ontario.

I bought a box from Walmart and cut it down as small as I could to ship a 727 transmission shield and UPS was around 55.00, FedEx slightly more, and USPS 44.00
It’s getting crazy.

I bet the different carriers are each cheaper at certain size and weight packages? Otherwise IF UPS was the cheaper on everything, we would just use them always.

Yes, shipping is crazy. I can ship a box/padded envelope to the States cheaper than in Canada from province to province. Our flat rate boxes no mater what size u get is only good for 11 pounds. That really sucks. Kim

I might just become a UPS guy, for my shipping needs. I have to go to the library to print the label, after the post office gives me my weight. Then on to a store in town where the pick up the package.

I was told by the gal at the post office, they charge for the weight, and what they could ship in place of my bigger boxes. So you get tagged for what you send, and what they could have sent instead of your package! A bunch of crap, and why I couldn't ship something ground in my own region? Thanks for sticking it to the working man. I think it's nuts, but since I'm just passing the shipping in to the buyer, it doesn't cost me, but it still irks me.

You would think with the infrastructure USPS has they could undercut all the other carriers combined and give us all a break (and maybe not run in the red so often) and business would be booming. However, competition does not seem to bring these crazy shipping prices down. I can actually fly a commercial airline round trip sometimes for what they charge to deliver a 50 pound shipment one-way to the same destination!

Not quite that nice a seat, however. (I wish!)

You'd be surprised how much ups, fedex, dhl, and Amazon is actually being shipped by the postal service

Warning: the UPS store employee didn't even know about their own "simple rate" flat rate program, so be diligent about it at the store, bring a smart phone and show them their own website. Flat Rate Shipping from UPS® | UPS - United States. My wife didn't want to argue with them so I got to take the bull by the balls tomorrow on my lunch. Psshh......

Follow up. UPS 'Simple rate' is not available as a walk in service at a UPS store as these are franchised stores selling the UPS product, and the "Simple rate" is only available online. So its easy enough: Just box up package keeping it under the max cubic inch volume of the box and weigh it, accuracy not needed unless your bumping 50 lbs. Measure box and input the dimensions into the website and receivers address. Pay rate online. They will email a shipping label to your email address you give them about a minute after you complete the form. It will be in another web page format with multiple printing options, just pick 'print label' and it will print to your local printer. Take it and box to UPS store and ask for a shipping label sleeve (clear self stick envelope) put the label in and stick to box. They will scan label and give you a receipt with the tracking number. Now ship that steering wheel across country for 12 bucks. This could be a game changer shipping weird sized stuff that USPS flat rate would not cover. Intake is easily under the <20x15x6 max dimension, 23 bucks which is more than USPS Flat rate "game box" but a cylinder head may now ship if its <50lb. Good luck.

You do realize your crossing an international boarder on that package. UPS will be cheaper but the person in Ontario will have to pay a broker fee about $50-100 to get the package.

Ship it USPS for them.

That's insane. Luckily I've always used USPS for my Canadian shipping needs.

I have used Greyhound package express to move large, bulky, and heavy items around the country. They will take up to 100 lbs per item. They have a few different ways to ship. I've had excellent service from them. The cheapest way is to pay for it on line and then haul your **** to the bus station. You can ship station to station or you can add features like door to door. Check the web site and all. When you have to ship those Cadillac fenders coast to coast it's the bomb.

last time I checked the fuel surcharge pushed them higher than UPS, but they do have a place for bigger items. I shipped a box full of header (multi piece design) and it worked station to station.
