How come the 3 c's in PACIFIC OCEAN are all pronounced differently?

For the same reason that "womb" is pronounced Woom, "tomb" is pronounced Toom....and bomb is not pronounced Boom??????// Although that is the sound it makes when it explodes..."BOOM"!!!!
